🐆❄️ Conservation of Snow Leoprds in Nepal's Dolpa Region! 🏔️ A groundbreaking camera trap survey has revealed remarkable insights into snow leopard populations outside protected areas. Here's what we've discovered: - 30 snow leopards identified in eastern Dolpa - Population density of 1.5 snow leopards per 100 km² - Survey covered nearly 2,000 km² of trans-Himalayan alpine terrain - Involved 33 citizen scientists, 7 forest department staff, and 3 students Why This Matters Around 42% of Nepal's snow leopard habitat exists outside protected areas, making these corridors crucial for species survival. The eastern Dolpa habitat uniquely connects snow leopard populations across three protected areas and two conservation landscapes. 🌿 Conservation Highlights Nepal continues to lead global efforts in snow leopard conservation, demonstrating: - Innovative research techniques - Community-based conservation approaches - Commitment to protecting these magnificent mountain predators Discover the fascinating connection between snow leopard conservation and remote highland communities in this video by WWF Nepal.
