EDM refers to the processing of copper males by using the erosion effect of spark discharge on the object in the liquid medium in the lower voltage range. EDM can process thin-walled, elastic, low stiffness, micro-fine holes, shaped holes, deep holes, and other parts with special requirements, but also in the mold processing of fine text. Copper male is the electrode of EDM, just like a seal, stamped on what workpiece, its corresponding shape will appear. The copper is three-dimensional. Hey there, folks! Buckle up, because I'm about to share some juicy professional insights on the world of CNC precision machining with copper. First off, let's talk about the different types of copper you might encounter. We've got pure copper, which is the classic choice for its excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance. Then there's copper alloys, like brass and bronze, which add a little extra oomph in terms of strength and durability. Now, when it comes to CNC machining these bad boys, there are a few key things to keep in mind. Copper is a relatively soft metal, so you gotta be extra careful with your feeds and speeds to avoid any nasty chatter or surface finish issues. And don't forget about tool wear – copper can be a real diva when it comes to eating through your cutting tools, so make sure you've got a solid tool management strategy in place. Another important consideration is the thermal properties of copper. This metal has a high thermal conductivity, which means it can get hot, hot, hot during the machining process.
