This is Gazala, the owner and chef of Gazala’s on 81st and Amsterdam. She is an Israeli Druze, a small minority in Israel that is incredibly proud of both their religious and national heritage. They serve proudly in the IDF and reach the highest of ranks. Gazala has an amazing restaurant that you should all check out - business has been very slow since October 7 and their window was even smashed in the other night. But most importantly, the food is delicious!! So please do support her ❤️🇮🇱🙏🥘

I discovered this place last week when I met a friend for lunch. The food was divine and the service was fantastic! It’s heartbreaking and infuriating knowing their window was smashed in… We have so many phenomenal restaurants in NYC. Gazala is definitely on the short list; can’t wait to return!

Check out the expanding landscape of English Whisky. Worthy of note (you'll need to download the high resolution version!) is that while 25 distilleries have a finished product launched, 25 more have spirit ageing in cask, but are yet to release. I love culinary stories, and this is the best i’ve read in a long time. Wonderful storytelling, both written and photographic. This story has been a pleasure to research and write. In my travels throughout regional Victoria I often wondered about the owners of Chinese restaurants. Who are they and how have they lasted so long? Many of them are amazing success stories and so loved by their communities. The pics by Justin McManus are incredible too.
