My personal take on the acquisition of Sambro. As I reflect on two years since the close of BLE 2022, I remember leaving the show filled with excitement—new deals, innovative ideas, and wonderful partners. One of my fondest memories was securing Peppa Pig Puzzle Palz. My last meeting was with a dear friend at Disney who was off to embark on her adoption journey. We caught up this week, fair to say it has been an emotional ride all round.   The week following BLE I took some much-needed leave with my family in beautiful Cornwall. It was the first time in years that I enjoyed a break from work.   Upon my return to Sambro, I was heartbroken to learn that my position no longer existed. After a decade with the company, which had been such a significant part of my life, it felt like a tremendous loss. Throughout my time there, we celebrated births, marriages, bar mitzvah’s. We navigated the challenges of illness and grief as a team. We truly shared it all.   Driven by a collective passion for making the business successful, we worked tirelessly and achieved remarkable milestones together. There were chaotic moments, of course, but I had the privilege of collaborating with the brightest talents in the industry, along with challenges along the way. Yet, our enthusiasm never wavered. While the promise of equity investment initially seemed poised to help the company thrive, it fell short, stifling our passion and vision. Two years on, I have had the pleasure of working on truly inspiring, dynamic projects with expanding and motivating companies. I have transformed long-time competitor relationships into friendships, leading to collaborations I never thought possible. While I continue to treasure the long-standing relationships and experience I built - the future is making of me and it will be for others.   Personally, I have grown. What felt like a very lonely first year has blossomed into a second year of thriving in my new business ventures. I feel stronger, healthier, and more balanced than ever—both personally and professionally. Long may it continue.   I believe that HTI, led by John Hutt and his talented team, has the potential to revive the best elements of Sambro and rekindle the ambitious spirit that once flourished there.
