In case you’ve had your eye on us and you’re wondering where my head’s and what we value… Earlier this year, we spent roughly $30,000 to take our top producers to Puerto Rico for our 1st Sales Incentive Trip. We’ve invested over $350,000 into Point of Sale Hardware and have placed it for free so Agents could sign awesome deals that they couldn’t otherwise fund. To this day, I have yet to take a profit distribution. The money left over every month gets reinvested back into the company or saved. We turn 3 years old in November and have done a great job building our foundation and establishing who we are. I’m not looking for the right-now money, I want to build something meaningful that improves people’s lives. We’re looking to partner with 30 more awesome 1099 Account Executives by December 31st, 2024. We won’t work with you just because you have a pulse and deals to board. We want Agents who actually care about their clients, and don’t look at each MID as just a boost in Residual. We want Agents who understand that Technology is driving our industry, and that we are no longer commodities like our competitors who mostly sell on price. We want Agents who want to join a Team that feels like a Family because that’s who we are and what we value. We want Agents who understand every business should have a line of credit and access to Capital, and isn’t afraid to ask their prospects/clients about it. We won’t win you over because of an aggressive Schedule A and high split… Playing the splits game sucks and, like I said, we’re not a commodity and neither are you. Or, it's very close to year-end and we're flat-out finishing this, and finalizing plans for next. Regardless, we're drawn to thinking about marginal gains. What adjustments did we implement that brought success? If Q1 has been too tough, it's time for evaluation and adjustment to underwrite success in Q2. You'll have a few options: Conversion rates or value propositions? Personal sales planning or effective negotiation? Demystifying Sales for a Small Business Owner-Part 2 Developing a Strategy Now that you understand your customers (Part 1), the next step is to build a strategy around those customer insights. To do that, you'll consider what motivates those customers to move through the stages ending in a sale: awareness, interest, desire, and action. We call this moving customers through the "sales funnel." Potential customers enter the "funnel" by becoming aware of your company, then they become interested, then they desire, and ultimately buy your product or service. The task is to figure out what actually moves potential customers from one stage to the next. Next, you'll structure a sales process that supports and matches the sales funnel. You'll identify appropriate ways to prospect for potential customers (create leads), qualify those leads (are they worth your time?), craft your best message to demonstrate value (presentations, marketing material, etc.), handle objections, close and support the deals post sale. Then, you'll consider pricing, ensuring that it's competitive and profitable for the business. This is built on competitive data, your costs and the perceived value of your product or service. In one of our recent Board of Directors sessions, we broke out into our usual rooms (Setup, Sales, and Scale), and I found myself in the Sales Room, where we tackle all things sales-related. We discuss everything from increasing conversion rates and refining sales strategies to structuring commissions to motivate salespeople. A few weeks ago, a client shared her sales process and offer with me, and it became clear that they were undercharging for their services. Like criminally so. I suggested introducing a new service line or upsell product at a higher price point. She was skeptical at first, but in the first day of offering this new service, she sold to all three prospects she pitched to. Now, not only will this change allow the company to generate more revenue, but it will also enable them to deliver a more valuable and strategic service to their clients, leading to better retention and satisfaction. This is a massive win-win for the business. And while this success story is fantastic, it's not uncommon. We encounter businesses undervaluing their services and undercharging all the time. So let me ask you: When was the last time you reassessed your pricing strategy? It might be time to revisit this to ensure you're not leaving money—and value—on the table.
