At Alpharmaxim, we recognise the complexity of understanding and targeting behaviour change. Behaviours don't exist in isolation, and addressing them all simultaneously isn't feasible. That's why we advocate for small, incremental changes, which are more likely to succeed than sweeping transformations. Our behaviour change process centres on understanding and nudging healthcare professional (HCP) behaviour away from habitual prescribing patterns. By identifying barriers and leveraging behaviour science, we aim to empower HCPs to prescribe a wider range of medications based on evidence-based data, not just habit. We firmly believe that involving patients in healthcare interventions as early as possible is crucial. They play a pivotal role in influencing HCP prescribing behaviour, and by encouraging HCPs to embrace novel therapies earlier, we ensure that patients receive the right treatment at the right time. PhRMA's Equity team partnered with NJI to create a virtual simulation that demonstrates the impact of social determinants on Americans’ health, illuminates inequities in the health care system, and generates thoughtful conversations about medication access among constituents. The interactive experience lets participants choose a personalized journey that simulates the patient experience of acquiring prescription medicines and culminates with a policy point and call to action.
