Colacurcio Brothers Construction has been hired for the construction of a New Headquarter Fire Station No. 87 located in Granite Falls, WA. The project includes general construction, including plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, electrical and site work for a wood-framed, two story fully sprinkled building of approximately 18,436 S.F. The new facility will house Snohomish County Fire Protection District #17 emergency responder personnel with (4) apparatus bays, crew living and sleeping areas as well as other fire service-related support spaces. The building also includes a meeting space with an associated public lobby and restrooms. Cascade Door and Hardware has been hired to provide doors, hardware, and consulting services on the project which began its planning in March. Sean Bayha of Cascade will serve as the Project Estimator on the facility. This adds to the large portfolio of county and city support facilities that Cascade has worked on. 🔥 💦 Fire prevention and fire fighting are major life safety considerations that take place during the design of any building in Ontario. In rural settings where fire water isn’t available, you have limited options to provide adequate water for the fire department to do their job. Two common solutions we have employed are 1) a fire water pond 2) fire water storage tanks. The ponds are typically more cost effective but they can take up considerable space. For sites that wish to maximize the utility of their available space, fire tanks are a good option. But as you can see in the video, big buildings require lots of water and thus, big tanks! 🔥 💦 Got to give credit to the trades on site. They are doing awesome! Middlesex Concrete Forming Cassidy Construction #thamescentre #construction #constructionmanagement Edit: I have been corrected by the mechanical engineer. The water in the fire tanks supply the sprinkler system in the building with water. Fire pumps within the building pumps it out of the tanks.

🚨 Beware of False Contractors Increasing Stair Riser Heights 🚨 In the construction industry, we often encounter cases where false contractors manipulate standard measurements to cut corners, leading to poor-quality structures. One common issue is the riser height of staircases. 🔍 What’s the problem? Increasing the riser height (the vertical part of the stair) beyond standard limits may seem like a small change, but it can drastically affect the safety and comfort of a staircase. Uncomfortable stairs can lead to safety hazards, especially for children and the elderly. 🔧 Why does this happen? Some contractors, in an attempt to save material or reduce labor costs, increase the riser height during construction. This results in uneven steps and can severely compromise the functionality and safety of the staircase. 👷♂️ As a civil engineer, I urge all homeowners and project managers to stay vigilant. Ensure your contractor is adhering to standard staircase dimensions and not taking shortcuts that could impact the quality of your building. 📢 Let's raise awareness and promote proper construction practices! Don’t let poor workmanship affect the safety of your structure. #ConstructionQuality #StaircaseSafety #CivilEngineering #AliConstruction #BuildingSafety #ContractorBeware

One way to help reduce the amount of dust and debris entering ductwork during remodel or construction jobs is to cover supply and return registers. Just be sure that the system is not operated while the covers are on.

Hoping for a lively debate on here regarding the installation of Fire dampers. I have seen many posts slating the install methods of some fitters and in most cases rightly so but do we know the whole story. A hypothetical scenario here. Can an architect come up with a design detail for the installation and sealing/ encapsulation of Smoke Fire Dampers. And after this can a City Council/ Building Control officer/ Fire officer/ Main contractor sign off this detail as acceptable. Taking all this on board, the damper manufacturer has no tested arrangement for this Building material and as such has not installation method available.

◼️ Small Projects —> Great Relationships ◼️ Yesterday I was out at the job site of a smaller concrete repair we were doing for a new customer here in DFW. It wasn’t a huge project but it was something that they needed us to move on quickly due to a severe failure. They wanted it done right, completed in a safe manner, and not have to think about that issue after hiring us. A lot of people tend to not want to handle smaller projects like this but we look at it as a unique opportunity to show new and future customers the type of contractor we are. We strive as a company to be set apart and lead the way in every aspect of our business, whether we are on a large project or smaller repair. Though a project like yesterday may be small in size, it is giant in potential because it gives us a chance to show why we are different and the Professionalism of our organization. #asphaltpaving #concreterepair #pavingcontractor #concretecontractor #parkinglotmaintenance #propertymanagement

🔥 Concerned about fire safety in construction? 🚧 Check out this insightful article discussing the shift towards Light Gauge Steel (LGS) building construction over wood. Not only is steel faster and longer-lasting, but its non-combustible nature makes it a safer option, reducing fire risk and insurance premiums. Let's build smarter, safer, and more resilient structures together! #SteelConstruction #FireSafety #BuildingInnovation 🏗️🔒
With the increase of fires in wood-framed mid-rise construction projects, builders are turning to noncombustible steel framing to enhance overall safety. Get the detail at https://ow.ly/ksFz50RnG37 #BuildSteel #CFSteel #Fire #FireProtection #FireSafety #Construction #BuildingMaterials #Steel
