Teacher/trainer with substantial experience designing, leading, and implementing a broad range of growth and realignment initiatives.
My very first job, at age 14, taught me a lot. I worked as an assistant maintenance guy at a mobile home park in rural southeast Ohio. That summer, the septic system for the park had an issue. The head maintenance guy handed me a shovel and told me the pit had to be shoveled out. It was hot, stinky work, and I was earning $2.00 an hour. I spent the afternoon shoveling human crap (and other things people flush down a toilet). So what did I learn? 1. No job is beneath me. (Why I never utter the phrase, "I don't get paid enough to do this.") 2. If it is worth doing, it is worth putting your best effort into the work. 3. There is pride in a job well done even if the job is stinky, gross, and maybe not even legal. What are some great lessons you learned from your job(s) before you found your career?

This is where Galveston Bay meets the Gulf of Mexico. Those ships at anchor are waiting for a pilot to navigate their 800 ft ship up the bay, which averages 11 ft in depth (the ships draught is typically 25-35 ft). There is a 500 ft wide channel carved into the Bay called the Houston Ship Channel which is 40 miles long and about 50 ft deep...almost 30 miles to within eyesight of downtown Houston. A reminder that hiring an expert in a given field can be the economical choice in growing a business.
