Another couple of photos moving 2 of our usual cargoes, logs and cement in big bags.
It is good to do a bit of everything but consistency also matters in shipping, and we pride ourselves on our experience in some trades, namely these two, that we fix regularly for many years. One of the reasons why we always deliver these cargoes #Safely#OnTime#WithinBudget!

Gantry hatch cover system, one of the many ways a cargo ships hatches can be designed to open. This system simplifies the movement of the hatch cover panels by keeping them aligned on the rails. However, many vessels with this hatch type have required sequencing and specific stacking order, or stacking locations. Planning a load or discharge of cargo requires a keen understanding of the hatch configurations and how much time and energy is required to make specific portions of the hold accessible. #PortCaptain#CargoPlanning#VesselOperations#Shipping#Logistics
Stripped & Strapped Pipe Securement Tips from Steelhorse Freight Services Inc.
Proper load securement is critical for safety on the road. Here are some key tips to keep your pipe secure:
1. Check Your Straps: Ensure all straps are free of rips or tears before use. A quarter inch tear is deemed out of service.
2. Use Dunnage: Place dunnage underneath and between each layer of pipe before loading.
3. Strap Placement: Place two straps on every layer of pipe, securing from opposite sides. On the first and last 10 feet of the load, use two straps; thereafter, use one strap every 10 feet over top of the load.
4. Inside Rub Rails: All tie-downs and other parts of the cargo securement system should be inside rub rails when practical. Use edge protection to prevent wear and cutting.
5. Working Load Limit: the total WLL of your securement system must be at least half the weight of the load as per DOT standards; however, 75% of the load weight is preferred for optimal safety.
Stay safe out there and keep those loads secure! #SteelhorseFreight#TruckSafety#LoadSecurement

Let's do some FAQs today
❓ How long does it take to load or unload the large-volume truck sets?
With pass-through set there is no need to handle a tandem trailer and the associated time delay when loading a large-volume set, i.e. loading takes the same time as loading a trailer
❓ Could be large-volume truck sets used as temporary storage like a semi-trailer?
It is possible to leave exchangeable superstructures, the superstructure of the car and the tandem trailer with the customer as well as with the semi-trailer.
❓ Is there possibility of damage if the transported goods are 3 meters high during loading?
When is used large-volume sets with three-sided lifting of the roof, the loading height at the moment of loading is 3.2 meters, which is sufficient for any handling of any goods (gitter boxes, stackable pallets, light bulky goods, etc.).

Fenders under cyclic loading conditions:
In the maritime industry, fender systems are crucial for the safe berthing of vessels, typically designed to endure high compression levels a few hundred times annually. However, the challenge arises when designing fenders for cyclic loading conditions—where millions of minor deflations occur yearly. Until the release of WG211, the industry lacked comprehensive guidelines for such scenarios. Chapter 7 of this publication now offers valuable insights for designing fenders capable of handling cyclic loadings.
Contrary to common belief, not all fenders succumb to failure after only a few compression cycles, even under cyclic loadings or severe berthing conditions. Trelleborg’s cone fenders distinguish themselves in the market with their distinctive geometry, substantial rubber volume, robust body thickness, and a superior rubber compound free of white fillers and large amount of recycled materials. Use cases have demonstrated their effectiveness in reverse cone orientation, permanent mooring, cyclic loadings, and extreme weather conditions. This makes them a dependable choice for intricate port situations where other fenders might falter.
At Trelleborg, we prioritize providing the most effective recommendations and solutions right from the outset. We carefully consider every aspect of the scenario to ensure we don’t merely respond to failures; we prevent them. This approach, along with our commitment to delivering premium quality products, has made our fenders the preferred choice for demanding berthing and mooring conditions such as cyclic loading.
