Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT) is a non-destructive testing method used to detect surface-breaking defects in non-porous materials. Weld testing is an important process in our metal shop. To guarantee both quality and safety we work with independent providers to inspect and CE mark our work. The inspection method shown here is referred to as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), a non-destructive examination method for ferromagnetic materials to identify any potential flaws in the surface and sub-surface of welded parts. The process uses a magnetic ink containing iron powder particles and these particles will be drawn to defects such as cracks and bridge any void. The contrast colour of the iron particles against the white base liquid creates a visual indication of the defect location, allowing remediation. #welding #weldinginspection #cemarking #quality #magneticparticleinspection #fabrication #metalwork

Machining internal thread spindles for a 42” gate valve is a complex process that often goes unnoticed. In the event of valve failure, HVL has the capability to quickly dismantle the valve during a brief line shutdown and remove the internal components for inspection/repair. Our engineering workshop can manufacture most replacement parts as needed. If the sealing or sitting faces are damaged, we are able to expertly lap the faces to ensure proper functionality/isolation. #machining #repairandmaintenance
