Kentucky’s tourism industries, like horse racing and bourbon, generate significant revenue, but the state lacks walkable, mixed-zoning areas that could further boost tourism, create jobs, and improve quality of life. Vol. 113 Editor Kristen Price argues that the creation of new mixed-use developments, supported by tax breaks and zoning initiatives, can increase tourism profits, provide much-needed housing, and enhance Kentucky’s economic and social landscape. Tourism numbers are out! Here are some highlights: - Spending in Milwaukee County grew 6.4% - The Greater Milwaukee area helped deliver a historic year for tourism statewide, accounting for 25.5% of total tourism impact in Wisconsin - Direct visitor spending in 2023 totaled $3.525 billion in the four-county region with $2.342 billion in Milwaukee County alone - In 2023 in Milwaukee County, tourism supported 27,226 full-time jobs – up 2.1% from 2022 Additional data from the Tourism Economics impact study, including a county-by-county breakdown, can be accessed here: https://lnkd.in/gMSQqsYd
🎉 The data is in and it's official — Wisconsin tourism posted another record-breaking year, generating a historic $25 billion economic impact in 2023! That's right, we're talking back-to-back record years for tourism! 📈 Every single one of the 72 counties in Wisconsin saw an increase in total economic impact! These results were fueled by overnight visitors - more than ever before, two years running. Plus, local tourism businesses have been pouring love (and investments) back into their ventures to help visitors make memories. Thank you to Governor Tony Evers for his support of tourism and for the hard work and dedication of Wisconsin's entire hospitality industry. This historic announcement of back-to-back record-breaking years is truly a statewide effort. Learn More: https://lnkd.in/ghnyjf37

The surge in whisky tourism across Scotland, with over 140 malt and grain distilleries capitalising on the trend, is reshaping the whisky market and local communities. As distilleries invest in enhancing the whisky experience, from tours to purpose-built centres, the number of visitors to Scotch whisky centers exceeded two million in 2022. While this is fantastic for whisky tourism, it raises crucial questions about the broader impact on the whisky market and local communities. How can distilleries and those involved in whisky investment strike the right balance, supporting local communities and managing the overwhelming interest to ensure a positive impact? In my latest blog, I delve into these questions, exploring strategies to harmonise growth and community well-being - https://bit.ly/486VR3W #Whisky #SupportScotch #WhiskyInvestment #CaskInvestment #Whisky1901 #Forbes #ForbesFinance
