April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month and it's important to understand the impact of this disease. Did you know that nearly one million people in the U.S. are living with Parkinson's disease? Shockingly, this number is expected to rise to 1.2 million by 2030. Parkinson's is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's disease, and nearly 90,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with PD each year. Additionally, an estimated 4% of people with PD are diagnosed before age 50, and men are 1.5 times more likely to have Parkinson's disease than women. Let's support the organizations that are fighting to find a cure. Check out the wonderful work being done by the Michael J. In November we'll be walking in the Palm Beach Heart Walk to raise money for the American Heart Association to fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives. Here's some data from the CDC: - Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups. - One person dies every 33 seconds from cardiovascular disease. - In 2022, 702,880 people died from heart disease.
