After taking a short break, I’m still working on my personal website which will house my portfolio, a blog, and soon, some new projects. A small win I have experienced is managing the loading speed of the site. I didn’t think twice about adding animations all over the site. I really wanted the experience to be luxurious, so I thought animations were the way to go. After using Ubersuggest as a tool to do a site audit, I found my site speeds to be pretty slow. After removing all the animations, the experience already feels more high end, just from improvement of loading speeds. However, the ‘visual stability’ is still poor. I’m now learning about what factors contribute to this metric, so I can improve that aspect of the site. Stay tuned. Site launching soon!

You could convert all your images to WEBP format and get them to be around 80% smaller in file size and therefore load speed. Also consider adding Cloudflare (free) if you haven’t already. You’ll need to optimise the settings but it’s really worth it and can mean that a lot of the traffic that visits your site doesn’t even hit your orgin server (webhost).
