The contract manufacturing landscape in the 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 is changing rapidly. Could Simple Packaging & Labelling Changes Cost You More? ❎ Almost one in five consumers said that they were less likely to purchase products labelled “Not for EU” located under the packaging barcode. ➡ Brexit has moved the UK food manufacturing industry into a new era, providing unexpected challenges but unique opportunities with the necessity to re-evaluate the industry’s strategies and operations. ➡ British government plans to require all meat and dairy products sold in the UK to be labelled “Not for EU”. ➡ Food and Drink Federation (FDF) has estimated all extra labelling could cost the industry up to £250million extra a year! ➡ The impact most likely means that many companies will now need to run two separate production lines for the EU and UK market. ✅ The new system and standards must be careful and focus on understanding the long-term impact that changes can have on matters such as human health, environmental outcomes, dependency on primary food production and commercial consolidation of food producers and retailers. ❎ Changes to labelling, production line increases and deterring investment into the industry all lead to increased prices on consumers! ⬇ DM me or comment your thoughts below

***EUDR: What Does Compliance Look Like for Large Downstream Operators*** Large downstream food and beverage companies operate within complex supply chains that span the globe, involving numerous stakeholders at each stage of production. From sourcing raw materials to delivering finished products to consumers, these supply chains are characterized by their complexity and interconnectedness. At the beginning of the chain, raw materials are sourced from diverse locations, often involving smallholder farmers, large-scale agricultural producers, and suppliers worldwide. These raw materials undergo processing, packaging, and transportation through various intermediaries before reaching the manufacturing facilities of food and beverage companies. Managing these complex supply chains requires careful coordination, communication, and collaboration among all stakeholders involved. From ensuring traceability and sustainability in sourcing practices to optimizing efficiency and minimizing waste, large downstream food and beverage companies face numerous challenges in navigating their supply chains while striving to meet consumer demands and market dynamics. Check out the snippet from our recent webinar answering this important question. Joe Durand Arnaldo Bernardi #eudr #sustainability #foodsupplychain

Introducing the Common Framework for Food 🥕 This new framework, developed by ETI in consultation with partners, gives an overview of what is meant by ‘responsible purchasing practices’ for the food industry. Responsible purchasing practices (RPPs) can address risks to suppliers and workers, and consider particular contexts, business models, and buyer-supplier dynamics. While they are not one-size-fits all, there are overarching themes that apply to many sectors. Using a common framework helps break down the potentially overwhelming concept of RPPs into a manageable structure, taking these overarching themes and expressing them in five core principles. This framework acts as a core reference document, to provide a common language and structure for discussion and action, after which guidelines for different elements of the industry may be developed.
