A couple of weeks ago the Catamount Atlanta office hosted its first annual Catamount Foundation Golf Tournament at St. Ives Country Club in Johns Creek, GA. Thanks to the participation of our sponsors, valued trade partners, other industry supporters, and our volunteers, the Catamount Foundation extends our heartfelt appreciation for making the first annual Atlanta tournament a resounding success as we raised over $34,000 to advance the Foundation’s mission. The Catamount Foundation supports individuals within the extended Catamount Foundation community who have experienced an unexpected hardship, introduces young people to the industry by funding scholarships and related programs, and promotes safety and safety-education initiatives within the construction industry. Huge thanks to everyone who had a hand in making this event a huge success! #teamcatamount #catamountconstructors #catamountfoundation

With the Fundraising Regulator having again criticised the how two charities have used subcontractors in their fundraising efforts, it feels timely to share my most recent blog article that examines this very topic. It’s worth remembering that the use of subcontractors in fundraising isn’t inherently wrong or bad, but it does need to be approached with due consideration for how the potential risks associated with it are managed – that’s where the team at Sayer Vincent can help. #fundraising #charityfinance #fundraisingethics
The issue of how subcontractors are used in fundraising has once again hit the headlines and for all the wrong reasons. The team at Sayer Vincent is well-placed to provide assurance on how the risks around working with subcontractors can be successfully managed and here, our Senior Risk and Assurance Manager Arlene Clapham examines the subject in more detail ➡ https://lnkd.in/e8ma-m_3 #fundraising #charityfinance #fundraisingethics

GiveOUT CEO Emily (Em) Scott spoke to F&P (Fundraising & Philanthropy) about the power of peer-to-peer fundraising (i.e. our champions) within GiveOUT Day 2023. GiveOUT Day champions choose an organisation that is close to their heart, create their own fundraising profile, then seek donations on behalf of their chosen organisation via their networks. Why does this matter? GiveOUT Day organisations with at least 1 champion have raised on average 💫8 TIMES MORE💫 than organisations with no champions. In Em’s words: “To continue to grow GiveOUT Day, we knew we needed to raise awareness of the campaign in new networks. In 2022, we had 1663 unique donors, but there are more LGBTQIA+ people and allies in Australia who would be motivated to donate, if they knew about GiveOUT Day.” “Active champions help spread the word to new networks and take the fundraising burden off resource stretched organisations. 39% of LGBTIQA+ not-for-profits operate on less than $10k a year and more than half are completely volunteer run.” Pride in Diversity found that 43% of passive allies did not know HOW to become active allies. Signing up as a champion is a simple and easy way to active your allyship, and 'step up' for your much loved rainbow friends, families and colleagues. So, are you an LGBTQIA+ person looking to give back to your community, or an ally looking to demonstrate and activate your allyship?💪🏾🏳️🌈 You can today, for free, in less than 5 minutes! Go to https://lnkd.in/gvTf6_kT and: ✅ Pick a cause, location or community close to your heart ✅ Write 1-2 sentences about why this matters to you ✅ Share your GiveOUT Australia personalised champion link to your friends, family and networks That's it. 😇 Sources: https://lnkd.in/gp8XKtY6; https://lnkd.in/gUegr2US

Companies nurture leaders and learn how to innovate in various ways, with acquiring knowledge being certainly one of the key approaches. Having more leaders who share the same knowledge within one organisation is a starting point for #positivechange. #IFLP
Knowledge is to be shared, especially the knowledge that drives a company to deliver its mission. Having been an #IFLP participant herself, Sarah Bolton is now delighted to see more colleagues joining the Programme and supporting the charity in its innovation efforts. “Breaking out of our norms" is how Sarah described the benefits of IFLP, which is why the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity sends more leaders to the IFLP programme. Last week, our MD, Pete Evans had a great conversation with Mike Quate and Rachel Smith about One for the City. One for the City lets businesses commit either 1% of their revenue or profit to charities in Leeds. The organisation is inspired by 1% for the planet but focuses on Leeds. It also helps address the the growing gap between the business economy and the people suffering hardship in Leeds because of their socio-economic circumstances. Business isn't just about making money and whilst our MD, Pete Evans is from the other side of the Pennines, it is great to be giving back to the city where the business is now based. The manifesto of One for the City is:- 1) Champion business to become a force for good which benefits wider society and the environment 2) Create a community of businesses committed to growing a more inclusive economy 3) Increase collective giving to charitable and social causes in the city 4) Provide a platform for which businesses can centrally contribute their financial donations 5) Illustrate the impact made businesses supporting the 1% model If you are interested in knowing more then reach out directly to Mike Quate

When running a business, organisation, or company, there are different legal structures. One of these is a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG). 💼 ⬇️ A Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) is a unique legal structure commonly used by non-profit organisations, professional associations, and clubs. Unlike traditional companies, CLGs have no shareholders and distribute surpluses back into the organisation to fulfil social or charitable objectives. We explored the definition, characteristics, benefits, formation, and governance of a CLG, as well as its financing and income generation.
