Fighting Human Trafficking via REI and Data Science 🏠🐍| USMC Infantry Officer | MS Operations Research | Passionate about Community, Work, and Generosity
Fortitudine vincimus—“By endurance we conquer.” Lansing, Alfred. Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage My sophmore year at the Naval Academy we actually got this on dog tags as a team. For everyone that follows service academy football, the classic thought is that we are smaller, slower, and weaker than everyone else. But I fall back on this. You wouldn't fight me in the parking lot. We ALWAYS played like it was the end of the world. Like there was no tomorrow. And in the world of sports, for us, that was pretty much true. Post graduation, I went on to be an infantry officer in the USMC, then became a data scientist in the USMC as well as an entrepreneur. But that phrase sticks with me still. By endurance we conquer. I was talking with a buddy and he was talking about entrepreneurship being a war of attrition. I couldn't agree more. Who do you go to when your endurance is flagging? I can solve that for you if you are in DC. #CapitolCreatorsAndChampions #WashingtonDC #NetworkingEvents #Tech #RealEstate #Consulting #PrivateEquity #VentureCapital

Who's seen the new Blue Angels documentary?! Or better yet, who's seen them IRL?? For those who don’t know, the Blue Angels are the United States Navy's flight demonstration squadron. Watching these incredibly skilled pilots soar through the skies with precision and teamwork was nothing short of inspiring. Thank you Ashley Liu Kirkman for the movie recommendation! Three takeaways from the Blue Angels documentary: 1. Excellence over Perfection: There was a line in the movie, "We’re not going to get to perfection, but we’re going to get to excellence." Perfection is a lofty goal, but excellence is achievable and sustainable. 2. Gratitude and Team Spirit: The pilots often say "glad to be here," a simple phrase that carries a lot of weight. It's a reminder to appreciate the opportunity to work with an amazing team. 3. Attention to Detail: The Blue Angels fly as close as 18 inches apart at more than 400 mph, where precision and trust are everything. This attention to detail ensures their performances are safe and spectacular. Similarly, in work, paying attention to the little things can make a big difference. Here's to soaring to new heights! #blueangels

The only Curtiss XF15C-1 "Stingeree" survivor of the three prototypes built. Photo from 6 years ago, after we reassembled the aircraft after relocating it to Hickory from Rhode Island. First one crashed, second was scrapped, and this went into storage. Built in 1945, it was the Curtiss proposal for "mixed propulsion" capabilities. A big Pratt and Whitney radial engine in the front and an Allis Chalmers jet engine in the back powered this prototype. With jet power coming online, it was already obsolete, so the project went no further. We look forward to a cosmetic restoration and then moving this historically significant aircraft inside the new HAM hangar being built. The aircraft is on loan to HAM from the National Naval Aviation Museum. More history later this month on this plane as we celebrate the first flight anniversary. #curtissxf15c1stingeree #prototype #usnavy #flynavy #navalaviation #aviation #aviationdaily #aviationhistory #aviationlovers #aviationphotography #aviationphotos #aviationphoto #airplane #airplanes #aircraft #jetengine #radialengine #hickorync #nonprofitorganization Friends of Naval Aviation, Inc.

Vince Lombardi, a legendary American football coach, once said that perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence. Ironically, the closer we get to reaching our #PeakPotential, the farther away it seems. The level of effort increases exponentially comparative to the results achieved and yet the elite, the best of the best, press through those obstacles and push themselves beyond their current limitations, perceived or real, to achieve something that many would consider to be perfection. When I think about teams who have reached their pinnacle, I think about teams like the US Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, Blue Angels. Precision flying at their level requires a #WinningCulture unlike any other. It requires six 22 ton aircraft flying at more than 400mph to come together and fly as one with just 12 inches separating them from each other. The margin of error is zero. One mistake and the entire team loses their lives. Being a great pilot isn't what makes the Blue Angels special though. Being an exceptional pilot who wins together and who fails together with 5 other exceptional pilots is what makes the Blue Angels the most elite formation flying team on the planet. That's what it means to be part of a #HighPerformingTeam. When every member of the team is centered on a common mission and empowered to think as one, you achieve exceptional results. I am proud to say that this is what we are doing at Firstup. #GrowthMindset #BeLegendary #SISU

————————————— Fifteen Things Every Naval Aviator Can Teach You About Life by Matthew Brasmer You’re responsible. Attention is life. Inattention will be at least minimally harmful if not deadly. There is always a curriculum. Preparation is advised. A well-lived life, like flying, requires constant adjustments. Think before you speak or key the mic. The people or instructors you dislike can still teach you much. The airplane doesn’t care about your pedigree. Neither does life. If you are not putting your life or the airplane where it needs to be, it’s your fault and your responsibility to fix it. Use the checklist. Plan your actions well, and be ready for the inevitable emergency. It’s coming. Celebrate your successes, yet realize that your life’s curriculum will require more tomorrow. It’s the Way. As in flying and life, the path to happiness is freedom; the path to freedom is courage. You never earn your Wings just once. Keep on learning, especially from your mistakes and those of others. You are not as cool or as skilled as you think. Humility is advised to overcome incapacity and neglect. You’ll meet real jerks along your path; don’t become one. #FlyNavy
