It was great to attend the PIMFA Senior Leadership Summit last week to hear from a range of speakers about topics affecting our industry. Jim London, our UK CEO, spoke to Suzy Levy about diversity and inclusion, and the changes that we need to make to go from conversation to taking action. Whilst this topic remains high on the agenda in many boardrooms, the data shared with attendees tells us that not much has changed. As leaders, we have to continually challenge ourselves to be active allies in this space remembering that: 1) Being nice is not the same as being inclusive. 2) Fear of doing or saying the wrong thing is keeping many leaders from speaking up but inaction will fail to drive the change required. The more we all engage and are honest about our mistakes the quicker we will learn.
