The Winter Walk strives to create unity, magnifies kindness, and exemplifies the absolute best of our humanity. In our movement, there are no divisions visible, no conflicts brought to the fore - just pure love and a shared goal of lifting up those in need. In a time when our country feels so divided, this unity at our annual walk becomes more important than ever. By joining together, we can not only end homelessness but also strengthen our communities and our economy, and improve the quality of life for every person in our nation. However, we do face significant challenges: right now, too much of our funding is being used to put out the fires of a local and national crisis that has persisted for decades. We lack the capital, time, and resources to focus on prevention and to build the sustainable, supportive systems that people need to re-enter safe spaces, rebuild their lives, and eventually rejoin the mainstream economy. Winter Walk programs offer a clear path forward, but we need your help. ❄️ A Message of Love & Unity: https://lnkd.in/dGcuuab3

Homelessness can be a vicious circle. And many people can be released from homelessness for good with really quite modest cash grants. Find out more about how Greater Change does this: https://lnkd.in/eKcMBxHS
We caught up with Leigh two years after he received a grant from Greater Change, which allowed him to fund his rental deposit and purchase essential furnishings for his new flat. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, Leigh and Coraline are settled into their new home and he continues to sustain his move out of homelessness!

💡🏡 Communities are making progress by working differently. They define success by whether homelessness across their entire geography is being reduced, not whether individual programs are performing well. Local nonprofit and government agency staff work as a team toward the single goal of reducing homelessness. They know — by name and in real time — all those experiencing homelessness. This clear, comprehensive view allows them to see quickly what policies and investments are leading to success and to focus on what works. #HomelessnessIsSolvable Learn more: https://bit.ly/3WD6gSc.

Define your purpose and focus on that. Be person centred in what you do. We all have a part to play in our biggest issues for a better community.
Well done
A project set to change lives 🏠 We’re transforming a council building into 50 new apartments for Melburnians experiencing homelessness, in partnership with the Victorian Government, Unison and philanthropic organisations.
