The financial burden of an apprenticeship – which can manifest itself in travel, accommodation and subsistence costs – can greatly affect the ability of young people to take them up. Increasing the minimum wage would help break down these barriers and incentivise young people to apply for apprenticeships who otherwise might not. At Catch22, we are calling for the next Government to make changes in this area. Learn more in our manifesto: https://ow.ly/KpHj50PHNvj #22Ways

Our degree apprenticeships are helping grow the economy. 🚀 Our recent “Force for Impact” report found that: 🔹 61% of SMEs use degree apprenticeships to support their talent pipeline. 🔹 91% of employers agreed that degree apprenticeships addressed technical and professional skills gaps. Scott Young, CEO at RedEye, shared with us the impact that Degree Apprenticeships have had on the company. He said: “We were experiencing the same digital skills shortage faced by employers across the country. Degree apprenticeships ticked a lot of boxes for us. They enabled us to keep work in-house, to grow our own talent, and to diversify our workforce. Smaller businesses like ours don’t have the luxury of dedicated early years support or big HR departments, but that shouldn’t be a barrier. The benefits our apprentices bring far outweigh the initial legwork required to onboard them.” Download our full Force for Impact report to hear first-hand from other employers and apprentices, and to find out more about the transformational impact of degree apprenticeships: mmu.ac.uk/forceforimpact

Working with Youth Futures Foundation, this report calls for a reform of the existing #ApprenticeshipLevy to enhance employer investment in #skills and boost opportunities for young people to secure apprenticeships that lead to quality employment. https://lnkd.in/eyFUHp3P

Great to hear today: Apprenticeships are at the very top of the ministers agenda with optimism for the future for apprenticeship funding. The cuts are real but interested to see how the apprenticeship budget is affected to grow skills to develop the economy.

8moAgree 100% and I'd advocate extending this to all those placements which are currently unpaid too.
