I was just reading an article about the importance of Gen Alpha (???) - so my inquiring mind wanted to know about this "new" generation. Meet Generation Alpha, including anyone born from the early 2010s up until 2025, already making waves in the consumer goods and retail sectors. Their lives are intertwined with technology in ways previous generations couldn't have imagined, earning them the nickname “Generation Glass.” As they grow, their influence on purchasing decisions will only increase, making it crucial for brands to appeal to these young, tech-savvy consumers. COVID-19 has also significantly impacted their early years, shaping their attitudes and values. Understanding Generation Alpha is essential for businesses aiming to stay ahead in the competitive landscape of CPG and retail. Want to learn more? Here's the best article I found on the topic. Co-founder & CEO Perspetivo | Co-founder The Social Few | Global speaker | Board member | Growth by Representative Data
Would you make critical decisions based on non-representative, faulty research and data? Before founding Perspetivo, I consistently purchased research throughout my career, only to find that none of the data was truly representative. This forced me to disqualify 70% of the studies conducted for my companies due to poor data quality. The problem/challenge? Rapid demographic changes, digitalisation, and technological advancements have led to significant underrepresentation of key groups, including: - Those under 25 (29%) - Individuals over 55-60 (21%) - Foreign-born (20%) - Those with foreign background (26%) - Those with disabilities, like dyslexia (20-25%) In total, about 34-40% of the population is left out. The solution? Representative data. That’s why my cofounder, David Khabbazi, and I created Perspetivo—the only SaaS platform offering truly representative data beyond typical demographics like gender, age, and location, empowering companies to make better, more informed decisions. Data marginalisation does not belong in a diverse, progressive and innovative society. Perspetivo #AskEveryone #RepresentativeData #TrustworthyResearch P.S. Yes - you’ll find a typo if you look really closely 😉

❔️How much should we rely on statistics? I often think about my self as a consumer. And how much I rebel against being pigeonholed into stereotypes. Reading this article made me consider the following. In a world where businesses heavily lean on statistics to define their offerings, do we inadvertently miss out on countless untapped opportunities as marketers? Would data and creativity ever coexist? #marketingstrategy #dataanalytics #statistics

Advancing the Brain Economy 🌎🧠 Lead of Neuro-Policy & Senior Fellow @ Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy | Adjunct @ UCSF
Thanks to Kacie Kelly for alerting me to this great new report. Extremely helpful analytics. Key Findings 1 Less than half (47%) of Gen Z Americans are thriving in their lives — among the lowest across all generations in the U.S. today and a much lower rate than millennials at the same age. 2 Seventy-six percent of Gen Z members agree they have a great future ahead of them, yet only 44% report feeling prepared for their future. 3 Members of Gen Z who have an adult encouraging them to pursue their goals and dreams are more than twice as likely as those without to strongly agree they have a great future ahead (51% versus 23%) and will reach their goals (49% versus 23%). 4 Despite significant learning loss coming out of the pandemic,1 three-quarters of Gen Z students rate their academic performance as “excellent” or “good” — though male, Black and Hispanic students rate their academic performance lower than others. 5 Gen Z students with excellent mental health are more than twice as likely as those with fair or poor mental health to say they get excellent grades in school (53% versus 25%) and are 24 points less likely to have missed any school in the past month (41% versus 65%). 6 Gen Z’s most frequently cited hope for the future is to “make enough money to live comfortably” (69%), while 64% say financial resources are a barrier to achieving their future goals and aspirations. This is a great article from Research Live. Pew, the American thinktank/ research house, has announced that it will stop talking about 'generations' in its data - marking the shift away from the idea that generations explain behavioural difference, and that 'Gen Z is just so unlike any generation we've seen before'. Much of that 'generational marketing' bumpf has been complete nonsense: today's 16-25 year olds may look different from today's 35-44 year olds, but they look surprisingly similar to what those 35-44s looked like when *they* were 16 to 25 - just with different platforms and tools at their fingertips. Instead, where the real insight is often to be found is in exploring how individual people change over the course of their own lives, in their beliefs, behaviours and desires - and the best longitudinal research really seeks to understand those shifts, rather than going with the easy headline of "Gen Z does this one thing more than anyone else". #generationalmarketing #insight https://lnkd.in/etknVqhZ

WE, THE MILLENNIALS By Allan Chituti Also known as Generation Y (GEN Y), the term millennials describes people born between 1981 and 1996 according to some sources. It was first used in the book ‘Generations’ by William Strauss & Neil Howe (1991) who believed it was a suitable name for the first generation to reach adulthood in the new millennium. They were also identified by their maturity at the time of technological changes, particularly the rise and growth of the internet. Because of this, they are considered adaptable; quickly adopting upcoming technology like smartphones, social media and streaming entertainment (Zelazko, 2024). As the first to grow up with the internet and digital communication they are adept at using the latest software based facilities like shared chat platforms. With many in favoring flexible work schedules, millennials seek positions that function outside of the traditional 8 to 5 office schedule. They pursue positions allowing a solid work-life balance giving them more time with their families and pursuit of personal goals. Being result oriented, they prefer flexibility; focusing on their accomplishments, not the time spent in the office. Performing a given assignment in less than the allotted time, makes them feel capable of achieving more, making them feel accomplished in the workplace (Jennifer Herrity, 2024). They are more dependent on praise and rewards from their managers than earlier generations which may require listing of their achievements to keep them motivated and productive. Millennials are self-confident, ambitious and willing to ask questions whenever something is unclear, leading to some feeling they are arrogant. They also expect to experience fast career growth within the workplace. They collaborate well, placing high expectations on themselves and also respond appropriately to feedback as they seek to work for something that really feels important to them (Sabine Steiner, 2016).
