A message from our Chief Executive, Bill Addy ahead of this weekend: First, let’s just take a moment to exhale as we get to the end of the week and pause before we get to the weekend. We’ve seen the best, and the worst, of Liverpool this week. But with strength and resilience we’ve come this far. Last weekend was frightening, intimidating and isolating. The work we do at Liverpool BID Company is about building a community. It’s about recognising that we are stronger when we work together. The violence we saw on Saturday, the fear it engendered, could have split us apart. But it didn’t. Instead we worked together, cleaned up, tidied up, spoke honestly about what we need next, and took care of each other. This week we have had our teams out on the street talking to businesses. We took the hard decision to cancel both Celebrating Castle Street and Bold Street because we didn’t want any business to feel pressure or worry about taking part in an event when activity was so unpredictable. We are developing plans to celebrate both streets through the Autumn. We provided additional radios so that businesses could report any concerns and we were in daily contact with our partners at Liverpool City Council and Merseyside Police. Clear, factual information is what is needed in these situations and we have ensured our partners know how valuable it is for you, our levy payers, to have a direct route into that. This weekend we’ll continue to work with partners and keep you updated. There is one last thing. There has been some chatter about what this week means for Liverpool. Those who say the unrest will undo all the good we have doneover a generation. To that I ask, well how did we give them a good impression the first time? We shared our community, our sense of care and love for each other, our solidarity and sense of fun. Our beautiful city and its stunning sunsets, our sense of ambition and endeavour. Liverpool’s story is not defined by one day. We will have to work hard to create new images, new opportunities to see the city in its true self, but I don’t doubt we can do that. Our diversity and community is our greatest strength. We have to make sure our city is a place that all feel welcome and safe. Our creativity and willingness to keep going is our super power. The city we love isn’t going anywhere! #LiverpoolBIDCompany Take a look at our latest newsletter for Merseyside Police updates & to get in touch with the team over the weekend → https://lnkd.in/e39frBv4 Bill Addy Shaun Holland Katie Bentley

If you look, you will find it. And we did! In our line of work, we know it is wise not to assume. Whenever we take on a new client, it is our procedure to take a fine tooth-comb to verify the information presented to us. In this case, our client, Team Town had just opened a new store, with two meters assigned to them by the landlord. No one should need to question this, yet in our research, we discovered one of those meters was not their responsibility but was the landlord's for an external portion of the building. Once discovered, we do not leave it to the client to figure it out. We took it upon ourselves to contact the landlord, who agreed, returning the mistakenly paid $7300. There is no telling of how much time would have passed before this may have been discovered by our client, without our involvement or even if. Powerhouse prides itself in our reputation of always protecting our client's best interests. #foundmoney #costavoidance #smallbusiness #

There's this old lady who comes around our office premises every couple of days, hawking groundnuts and 'caramel'. I bought from her a few times, so she made it a habit to stop by my office each time she has snacks to sell, and each time, I will buy. Sometimes I bought for my colleagues as well. However, one isolated time she came and I didn't have cash handy. So I asked her to drop a bottle or two and collect her cash the next time she passes by, in a few days' time, and she declined. I thought I was doing her a favour by buying her snacks so I opted for credit out of sympathy. But she refused and so I stopped buying from that day on. But she relentlessly continued to stop by my office and make her offer. And each time, I'll say I don't need it. This isn't about whether I was right or wrong or kind or wicked but many businesses lose clients and potential clients because they mess up at the level of focus and timing. What your client pays you for service rendered is very important, as it is what keeps your business running on a daily basis especially in our purely capitalist context. However, the relationship you build with your client is what keeps your business running in the long run. If you want to sustain the short run, be smart with your cash. But if you want to play the long game, be wise in your relationships: your clients, your stakeholders, the Banks. #theEconomyofBliss #EdAfricaGroup

TRREB Applauds the Homeowner Protection Act, 2024 🏡✨ The Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB) commends the Government of Ontario for the introduction of the Homeowner Protection Act, 2024, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing consumer protections and preventing fraudulent activities in Ontario's real estate market. 🏠 Key Highlights: ✅10-Day Cooling-Off Period: Now extended to purchasers of new freehold homes, aligning with existing protections for new condominium buyers. This allows buyers to pause, review contracts, and seek professional advice without pressure. ✅Resale Transactions: Exempt from the cooling-off period to avoid complications and delays, ensuring smooth operation in a supply-constrained market. TRREB President, Jennifer Pearce, commends Minister McCarthy for this forward-thinking legislation. We are committed to collaborating with the government, industry stakeholders, and our Members to implement these changes effectively, fostering greater trust and integrity in the real estate market.
