How qualified are you for the position you have applied for? I am currently applying for Marketing Manager and Senior Marketing Manager positions. Am I only applying to positions that I am 100% qualified for? No. I want to find an opportunity where I can continue to grow and learn. If I have 75% of the required skills, I am still applying because I know that I can learn quickly. A recent colleague of mine said that if he had 50% of the required skills then he would apply. What are your thoughts? How much room do you leave for growth? #openforhire #marketing

For the second time in three years, I have lost my job because my position has been eliminated. As a Marketing Coordinator, part of my role is managing the logistics and preparations for conferences and trade shows. The pandemic brought this portion of my job to a screeching halt. Thankfully, in-person events have returned, but turnout is lower than pre-COVID attendance. As we stand at the forefront of AI technologies, I can’t help but wonder if we are diminishing our human ability to interact socially. Do people know who you are? Every industry, as is every company, is different, but I believe human interaction remains critical when establishing new client relationships. Potential clients are more likely to convert if they have met you personally. Are you more likely to remember someone you met in person or someone you met on the phone? For example, are you happy when you call your cable provider and can speak with a person? As humans, it is our reactions and personalities that set us apart. Our ability to convey emotions to one another allows us to establish a dialog not limited to pressing options 1, 2, or 3. If you aren’t attending your industry events, you are missing valuable face-to-face opportunities. Looking for a Marketing Coordinator with 15+ years of experience? Message me!
