Helping Tutors earn more money for less hours whilst offering more value. Coaching | Learning Styles | Learning Methods | Teaching | Mental Health First Aid and Awareness
Whilst the visual is so representative of so many learners, I am a little heart-warmed to read from both Kate's post and the comments she has had in it, to learn that there are a growing number of people who feel the same way about our current education system as I do. I am, however, incredibly disappointed (but not surprised) and dismayed in equal measure, by the sheer fact that there are so many like-minded people banging drums to be heard and doing what they can to make a positive change, but still nothing has changed for the majority of learners. I do not believe the fault is simply political. I think it's greed. I am not interested in any rhetoric that tries to lay the blame here there and everywhere, I am solely interested in the situation changing but changing for the better. So whilst I may have ranted a little, my overall point is that change is possible. I also believe it is inevitable, but unless we make ourselves heard by all, the change will come too late for many. Keep making those waves. Keep striving to make a difference. It will happen - but let's work together to make it happen. I'm asking my network to share this post widely, and as they do, ask their networks to do the same. If what I say resonates with you, I'd love to connect. What an image, what a quote. We mustn’t have schools in our education system that make any child feel like this, and it is especially true for learners with SEND. Mainstream provisions must work with specialist provisions to learn what good practice in SEND looks like, in the same way that all professionals should seek to learn from one another’s good practice. One size doesn’t fit all, and we should be moulding and adapting our provisions around the needs of the cohorts in our schools to ensure everyone has the best education possible - sparkly points included! *original quote from George, illustrated by his parent. A compassionate and creative professional supporting individual growth and resilience in young people.
How can schools help our young people to retain their authenticity, uniqueness, joy- their sparkly bits? What enrichment programmes exist for them? What opportunities can be created during teaching and learning to give them the sense that they have an element of personalisation to their learning needs? Comments such as "tough, that's life" are so defeatist. Are we really preparing our young people for a life without sparkle? That's a pretty bleak outlook and I'm wondering if that's your go to response, what a horrible experience you must have had in school that has coloured your opinions so? School is a chance to enliven the imagination of students, to believe there are opportunities for them to work hard for to achieve, but they are there and they can bring all the sparkle they want as ultimately, that will raise them above the rest. Let's stop wedging our young stars into the square holes- surely it's time to cut bigger holes for them?! #education #youngpeople #aspirations

New Verdict -According to a recent Supreme Court decision, a B.Ed degree is not considered a valid qualification to become a primary school teacher; meaning, individuals with only a B.Ed degree are ineligible for primary school teaching positions. Key points about the ruling: Qualification for primary teachers: The court has stated that a dedicated qualification like D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) is required for primary school teaching, not a B.Ed. Retroactive effect: While the ruling applies prospectively, meaning it does not affect teachers already appointed with a B.Ed who are currently working as primary school teachers. Clarification on existing teachers: The court has clarified that the judgment does not impact the service of primary school teachers who were appointed based on a B.Ed qualification before the August 11, 2023 decision.

Among the many problems with the appeal policy is that it relies so heavily on subjective measures of performance to determine whether a student is ready for graduation. Subjectivity leads to things like grade inflation, and opens the door to what my organization calls the "belief gap," an infuriating preconceived notion of what some kids can't achieve. The right thing to do here is to understand why our education system isn't creating success for these students and modify our teaching, resources, and support services to better serve them. The students aren't the problem, our inability to properly prepare them is - and that's something that we can fix. https://lnkd.in/gzqnQWrU

ACLU Report https://lnkd.in/ecBsJfCE Public Comment Policies of Rhode Island City and Town Councils and School Committee Report details the written public comment policies of every city and town council and school committee across the state, finding that, while most council and committee meetings include at least some time for public comment, residents may be prevented from speaking by policies that contain overly restrictive time limits, rigid sign-up requirements, or “decorum” rules that may unconstitutionally restrict speech. The report offers a series of recommendations designed to promote meaningful public input at council and school committee meetings without unduly burdening the public bodies.

Newspaper readers, believers of the 1A and freedom of the press unite! There is an amendment (SF 3567 proposal) being worked on to eliminate schools from needing to publish public notices in newspapers. This is a horrible idea - as this article states, while newspapers would lose some revenue, the real losers are the public not having access to know what is going on, because seldom visited school sites will now become the only place they reside - "the majority of school districts’ websites, which are often underutilized, poorly structured and difficult to navigate, would become the primary source of school districts’ public notices" - having kids that have gone through public schools, I know just how bad they are!! Contact your Senate Conference Committee and House Conference Committee members and let them know where you stand - help keep public school notices PUBLIC! #publicschool #publicnotices #mna #minnesotanewspaperassociation #minnesotanewspaperassociation #mnnewspaperassoc #legalnotice #firstamendment #1A #SF3567 #MinnesotaSchoolBoardsAssociation https://lnkd.in/efW_U2_C
Other voices: Schools’ public notice plan would reduce access and harm transparency
