It's important to see the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) taking proactive steps to review the statutory duty of candour for health and social care providers in England. By seeking evidence on the operation, compliance, and enforcement of this duty, DHSC is demonstrating a commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability within the healthcare system. Regulation 20 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 outlines the duty of candour, and this review aims to assess its effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. It's worth noting that the review specifically excludes the professional duty of candour, focusing solely on the statutory duty. The call for evidence provides an opportunity for stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, service users, and advocacy groups, to share their perspectives and experiences. By gathering a range of insights, DHSC can make informed decisions about potential reforms or enhancements to the duty of candour. For those interested in contributing, it's essential to note that the call for evidence closes on 29th May 2024. This deadline underscores the urgency of participation and underscores the importance of engaging in this review process. Overall, this review represents a crucial step towards strengthening accountability and transparency in health and social care provision, ultimately enhancing patient safety and trust in the system. #MTICBIAI #MyTraumaIsChronicButIAmIconic #DHSCReview #DutyOfCandour #HealthcareTransparency #PatientSafety #AccountabilityMatters #SocialCareProviders #RegulationReview #HealthcareStandards #TransparencyInCare #PatientRights #DHSCConsultation #RegulatedActivities #HealthcareQuality #SocialCareStandards #PatientAdvocacy

Important to understand and read …
The failure to grow and invest in primary and community health and care services ranks as one of the most significant and long-running failures of policy and implementation in the NHS and social care for more than 30 years. Read our latest report: https://lnkd.in/eZiKMhFD

American Public Health Association released seven new public health policy statements last week. They are focused on the critical issues of vaccine equity, youth physical activity programs, incarcerated patient care, forcible displacement of people living unsheltered, fall prevention in older adults and public health requests within enduring international conflict. These policies will help shape APHA's position on legislation and regulations and be utilized to write briefs, fact sheets, reports and statements on these public health topics. These policies often help guide local chapters, nonprofits, and even governmental organizations to set policies and help envision a path forward. #publichealth #policymaking #policy https://lnkd.in/gtD_MXzU

The #DarziReport showed the terrible declining state of children's health in England, including the return of Victorian diseases such as rickets and scurvy. We have created a toxic environment for children, from increasing poverty, air and food pollution, moving and parked traffic, unsafe neighbourhoods, the worst aspects of social media and an authoritarian outdated education system. And then we wonder why they are ill, physically and mentally, and why there is such a rise in school refusal. If the government really wants to raise the healthiest generation of children in our history we need to pay attention to the conditions that enable them to do and be well. A very simple start would be to work towards creating conditions for children to play. If you care about this, make sure you respond to the consultation: https://lnkd.in/eZT6QfQn

For families across America, access to affordable and quality healthcare is essential to prevent chronic diseases and to receive medical care when needed. We all know that a health crisis can easily turn into a financial crisis, threatening the well-being of entire households—especially with the growing number of multigenerational families...especially, Latino families who keep their elders at home as long as they can, if they can. We need the peace of mind that comes from knowing our young, our elders, and ourselves will receive the care we need, and that it will be delivered in a culturally competent manner. Many countries around the world understands that a healthy population is the pulse of a healthy and humane society. Access to healthcare, along with the resources and conditions needed to live a healthy life, is a basic human right for them. It’s something that the greatest country in the world should be able to provide to all its inhabitants as well. COMADRES y COMPADRES!!! Let's vote, and vote EARLY—to protect our family’s right to quality healthcare. Our families, our communities, and our future depend on it. #LatinoVote #ComadresInAction #VoteToProtect #FamiliaUnida #LatinaPower #VoteForOurChildren

“The devil is always in the details” Theory into implementation and practice can highlight the challenges with the theory. What sounds good in theory doesn’t always transfer well to the practical especially when it’s not co-designed by the users. This is a good read.
My latest ICYMI: “The Hunger Games” in Ontario Primary Care https://lnkd.in/g_sez4jj "Improved compensation mechanisms for Ontario’s family physicians and recognition by government of their value as the backbone of the health care system is the necessary step forward to address the millions of Ontarians without access to primary care. Other ministers of health in Canada have demonstrated sincerity in their actions to improve access to primary care physicians rather than using diversionary tactics. They are doing so without entertaining “radical” notions. It’s time the Ontario government appreciated its family physicians and moved on from “The Hunger Games” approach. It doesn’t have to be this way."
