As we continue to explore new horizons and unlock untapped potential across the African continent, our curiosity took us to Uganda The Pearl Of Africa for the 8th Annual Conference For East Africa Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (EAVCA) that was held Speke Resort & Conference Centre Munyonyo ..... Can I just say the choice of location was magnificent they have heavily invested on the facility , from State-of-the-art Technology where they are equipped with the latest audiovisual technology, including high-resolution projection systems, motorized screens to mention but a few.....They have 477 rooms 5restaurants and 2bars where else do you want to hold your event if its not Speke? 🌍 Reflecting on an incredible experience I had the privilege to participate in the execusion of the event that had discussions that underscored the power of collaboration and networking in driving innovation and growth across East Africa's investment landscape. Key learnings that stood out: 1️⃣ Collaboration Spurs Innovation: The conference reaffirmed that when investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers collaborate, they unlock new opportunities and solutions. From agribusiness to fintech, partnerships are crucial in scaling impactful ventures. 2️⃣ Networking Enhances Opportunities: Networking sessions were invaluable in connecting with like-minded professionals and potential partners. Building relationships isn't just about transactions; it's about fostering long-term collaborations that fuel sustainable development. 3️⃣ Diverse Perspectives Drive Success: Embracing diverse viewpoints enriches decision-making processes. Discussions on inclusive investment strategies highlighted the importance of considering social and environmental impacts alongside financial returns. The #AfricaDay24 hosted a wonderful panel and lively audience discussion on innovation and ecosystems in Sub-Saharan Africa yesterday. I am proud to have shared the stage with Nwabisa Mayema, Tsegahiwot Belachew, Odin Krismayr, Kambis Kohansal Vajargah. Key takeaways from the discussion with the audience and the panellists: 🌍 There is a lot to learn between European and African ecosystems. What I have learnt from Kenyan, Nigerian, Ghanaian, Tanzanian and Ugandan founders over the last three years is the entrepreneurial resilience and community strength that I have not experienced anywhere else. ➡️ Europe might be overlooking the potential and dynamism of single African countries. If you have an impression from 5 years ago, you can't get a true picture of the market potential and innovation in the region. I would add that people tend to look at the big four markets of Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt while forgetting the good opportunities and pent-up demand on the investment side in the markets that come after the big four. ➡️ Much needs to be done to promote business between the two continents - starting with facilitating fast-track visa procedures when a business opportunity is time-sensitive and people must travel. ➡️ A local network of partners and collaborations is a must in any country where you want to do business in Africa. Everyone can reach out and learn from active companies with networks on the ground. With a smile on my face and knowing that it is far from easy, I would like to add that Africa and Europe are both in the same boat: since Africa and Europe are in the same time zone, it should be much easier to do business together... 🌿 Thank you Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, Martin Woller, Kambis Kohansal Vajargah and Kenneth Kinyanjui Komu for getting this panel together and fostering the conversation with an audience interested in investing in Africa and doing business on both continents. Exciting News for Nigeria's Tech Ecosystem! Following a highly successful edition of GITEX Africa in Morocco last week, it has been announced that the 2025 edition will be hosted in Nigeria! This is an incredible opportunity for Nigeria to showcase the strength and vibrancy of its tech ecosystem. GITEX is one of the largest tech events globally, bringing together innovators, investors, and tech enthusiasts to explore the latest trends and advancements in technology. On Thursday afternoon, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and the CEO of GITEX organiser Kaoun, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will bring GITEX Africa to Nigeria in 2025.
