It's always nice when the whole gang gets together. The government and major nonprofits are working towards zero operational emissions buildings that are: 1. Energy efficient 2. Free of on-site emissions from energy use 3. Powered solely from clean energy

100% agree with this. It's absolutely sacrilegious to demolish and desecrate usable iconic buildings that already represent sunk carbon. Anything new introduces additional carbon debts into the system, which are the last thing we need. People just don't understand embodied carbon at all, including practitioners who should know better, and it's a pretty bizarre situation that leaves me scratching my head at times. There needs to be more recognition that 'things' aren't just magicked into existence without consequences, and that includes EVs, which aren't the unilateral panacea that people claim. Just because something is shiny and new doesn't automatically make it better. #Circulareconomy and all that. #heritage #builtenvironment #carbondebt #embodiedcarbon

It’s an absolute waste of resources to demolish buildings like this. It’s deeply disappointing that Aberdeen City Council have made no effort to stop this, especially when there is no clear vision of what the site will be used for and given how public and visible this building was. We need to regulate embodied carbon, now! #regulateembodiecarbon #retrofit
