At Alexandre Bonnet, 100% of our champagnes are low dosage, either Extra Brut or Brut Nature ! Why ? Because it's trendy ? Not really... At Alexandre Bonnet, winemaking begins in the vineyard. We give ourselves the means to seek out the best possible ripeness, thanks to our internal ripening monitoring, plot by plot. A low dosage Champagne is considered to be extra-brut when it contains between 0 and 6 g/l and Brut Nature-Zéro dosage when it contains between 0 and 3 g/l. To produce Champagnes with little or no dosage, they need to be made from fine grapes with sufficient ripeness to strike a balance between structure and aromatic freshness. The aim is to set a harvest date once this balance has been achieved, which generally allows us to dispense with chaptalisation. This reinforces the decision to age the wine on laths for a minimum of 36 months. At the end of this period, we test several dosage levels, and it’s almost always the lowest dosage that best brings out the wine’s minerality and complexity.
2023, Belgium 🍇 : 3.5 million liters of wine produced, by 300 winemakers, over 900ha. That's not only a record yield, it also shows the increase of acreage per winemaker: now at 3.9ha/producer. We're prepping to put an environmental and economic sustainability profile to those numbers 🌿♻ #pioneerbelgianclimatewines https://lnkd.in/ed3RT5_X

Avg 10-Year AOP wine yields in France, by Region (2011-2020). Lowest in Languedoc-Roussillon with 37.1 hl/ha (esp. Pyrénées Orientales with 26 hl/ha!). Highest in Alsace (68.3 hl/ha) and Champagne (68.6 hl/ha). Hard to argue that yields are negatively correlated with prices

Echoing many of the themes we were expressing in real time during 2023 Bordeaux En Primeur. However, I do not think of En Primeur as "broken". Producers need only adjust their pricing to the market levels, they are still making enormous profits based on elevated pricing over the last 10 years. Expecting consumers to pay in En Primeur prices that are higher than better vintages that are immediately available is unrealistic. #bordeaux #bordeauxenprimeur #bordeauxenprimeur2023 #EnPrimeur #wine #finewine #wineinvestments #finewineinvestments #finewineinvesting #Bdx23 #Bdx2023

Port Wines | Vinho do Porto - Top 10 Port Markets In ’000s of Nine-Litre Cases Although the wine’s Portuguese home market enjoyed a fine year in 2022, growing nearly 123% to reach 1.41m cases. The continued post-Covid recovery of Portugal’s tourism market helped drive this growth, with sales by value totalling EUR74m. Exports totalled about EUR309m by value, with large volume declines recorded in key economically troubled export markets such as Belgium (-10.6%), the Netherlands (-18.9%) and the UK (-29.4%). France, port’s largest market, recorded a modest 1.4% volume gain in 2022 #wine #wines #portugal #port #portuguesewines #vinho #vinhodoporto #porto #portwine #vinhos #export #exportação Vinhos do Douro e do Porto | IVDP
