We’re happy to announce another great shore power order, following last week’s announcement of a significant order from Italy! This time, Cavotec has secured a €4 million shore power order from a leading global shipping company. This milestone marks the first retrofitting package for low-voltage vessels in the company's fleet, paving the way for reduced emissions and improved air quality in ports worldwide. At the core of this agreement is Cavotec's PowerFit containerised shore power system – a cutting-edge solution that minimizes retrofitting time and risks by enabling installation while vessels are sailing. Deliveries of these systems are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025. 🌍🚐 The worldwide push for electrifying transport has often overlooked the paratransit sector. While progress is evident in the electrification of 2- and 3-wheelers in Africa and Asia, the transition for minibuses remains challenging. In East Africa, where the formalization of paratransit services and mass transit systems is underway, there is a unique opportunity to discuss and enable the electrification of minibuses. Right now, the first regional exchange on minibus electrification is taking place, bringing together government decision-makers, researchers, and experts to modernize the minibus sector across the continent. RIX #RigaAirport was proud to participate in the Tech Tour European Hydrogen Valleys 2024 programme in Riga, emphasizing the critical role of hydrogen in driving innovation across the #aviation sector. During the event, Member of the Board of Riga Airport Normunds Feierbergs showcased Riga Airport as a prime location for testing hydrogen technologies, highlighting our involvement in the Interreg Baltic Sea Region project BSR HyAirport, where we collaborate with 16 partners from Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Poland, and Germany, focused on creating the preconditions for the use of green hydrogen in aviation: "Our goal is to achieve Net Zero by 2035. We invite innovative companies to use our airport as a testing ground for hydrogen production, refueling, and hydrogen-powered equipment, including heavy-duty transport vehicles. To decarbonise its maritime industry, #Singapore has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Norwegian companies Evoy and Pascal Technologies for a high-speed electric harbour craft. This project will integrate cutting-edge technologies such as advanced electric propulsion and air lubrication systems to maximise energy efficiency and performance.
