The AI industry is experiencing a downturn in investment after years of rapid growth. According to a report from Stanford's Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, both private and corporate investment in AI declined in 2023. Factors contributing to the decline include: Slower-than-expected growth, challenges in scaling AI technologies, a more discerning investment landscape, and less of an appetite to fund new players in the AI space. Investors are becoming cautious about sky-high valuations and projected exponential growth. However, generative AI, which creates new content like text, images, and music, remains a bright spot with significant funding in 2023. #ai #artificialintelligence #aiinvesting #aiinvestments #growth #aitechnology #generativeai #ainews #investors https://lnkd.in/gpQ8-y2T

💡This should be anything but surprising. 🔎On the one hand, the initial hype and the excitment around AI and GenAI attracted investments that were not translated into projected revenues as much money was invested in foundation models and in pilots/tests/experiments that were mostly not clearly tied to business goals and often spoiled by a lack of readiness for AI. Promises to run were made before being able to walk... 🔎On the other hand, some investors are now more selectively considering areas where requirements in terms of real, tangible and measurable gains in productivity, speed and revenues are defined and to be met. GenAI is considered as one of the best areas of AI to keep investing in but, here too, due diligence and business maturity will not be optional. Targets have replaced promises... 👉More perspectives, data and expectations from investors in the article... #globalbusiness #AI #technologyadoption #technologyinvestment
