The cement industry is responsible for 8% of the total CO2 emissions from all industries, following Iron & Steel and Chemicals & Plastics. This significant impact is largely due to the nature of our process, specifically the calcination of limestone, which releases substantial amount of CO2.
One of the most effective strategies to reduce our carbon footprint is to lower the clinker amount in cement. Clinker, the primary ingredient in cement, is responsible for a significant portion of the industry's CO2 emissions. By reducing its use and replacing it with Secondary Cementitious Materials (SCMs), we can achieve similar hydraulic properties while drastically cutting emissions.
SCMs like Fly Ash, Silica Fume, and Metakaolin require activation to be used effectively. However, Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) stands out as a game-changer. GBFS can be directly ground with gypsum to produce slag cement, offering a straightforward and efficient pathway to more sustainable cement production.
Have you ever wondered how Granulated Blast Furnace Slag is produced?

When it comes to solid body #centralizers for casing placement and cement coverage, #oilgas operators face a choice between steel and composite options. While composites offer corrosion resistance and lightweight advantages, questions remain about their durability and strength compared to steel. Solid steel centralizers have a proven track record of reliability in challenging downhole conditions, making them a top choice for many applications.
🤔 Careful evaluation of the trade-offs is essential for ensuring optimal well integrity. We compare both options in our latest article: https://lnkd.in/emtWMZiz#excellencetothecore
