Effective 1st July, 2024, A1MS will become a shareholder of Global One Automotive. The decision to join Global One Automotive aligns with A1 Motor Stores’ commitment to "enhancing its presence and competitiveness" within the UK automotive aftermarket. 🗣 simon salloway, managing director of A1MS, said: “This new alliance underlines our ambition to strengthen our presence in the automotive aftermarket. During part 2️⃣ of his write-up, following January's visit to Car Spares Factors’ newest branch in Harrow, our editor, Tom Henman, heard about CSF’s plans, digitisation and whether competition keeps co-owner, Sanjiv Shah, awake at night. To recap, the acquisition of Saxons brought CSF’s family-run portfolio to seven. The stable now includes branches in North London, Hertfordshire, Essex and Middlesex. 🗣 When asked about CSF's next move, Sanj replied: “We’ve got a lot in the pipeline: our consumables catalogue has just been released. We have just launched a range of bodyshop consumables that are in stock at our Waltham Abbey and Park Royal depots and are accessible to all depots within a matter of hours through our inter-branch delivery service." On competition: "I block it out – and the reason I block it out is because this industry is about relationships, it’s about trust, it’s about loyalty, and a garage will only give a motor factor one chance. We’re thrilled with our relationships. "We’re concentrating on what we’re doing, focusing on what we do well. As long as we do that, we don’t have to worry about nationals or other independents – could I sit here and worry about it? Yes, but do I? Advance Auto Parts To Completely Exit Markets In Certain Western States On Nov. 14, along with announcing its third quarter financial results, Advance Auto Parts unveiled a new strategic plan intended to improve its business performance with a focus on core retail improvements. “In August, we began a comprehensive review of asset productivity. Our goal was to assess actions already underway and identify additional areas of structural changes that would establish a stronger foundation for our future,” President and CEO Shane O’Kelly told analysts on the company’s Nov. 14 conference call. “Following this review, we have anchored our strategic plan on three pillars to put us on the path to deliver consistent profitable growth.” The three pillars are store operations, merchandising excellence and supply chain. A key element of management’s store operations initiatives is … • Closing 523 corporate stores. • Exiting the company’s relationship with 204 independent locations. • Closing four distribution centers.
