Most English wills leave assets in #trust, which is an issue in the civil law jurisdiction like #Poland, where trust in not a recognised concept. In Poland, the administration of an estate consists of a transfer of ownership between the deceased and beneficiaries. Any wording related to trusts could cause substantial issues. The notary dealing with the #succession is likely to refuse to act while the judge (if the will is presented to the court) may decide the case on the basis of statutory rules. Did you know? French inheritance law mandates that children must inherit between 50% and 75% of your estate, depending on the number of children. These specific provisions under the Napoleonic Code are designed to keep property within the family bloodline. This stands in stark contrast to the UK system, where you have more freedom in deciding who inherits your estate. #inheritancetax #inheritance #frenchinheritancelaw #inheritanceplanning
