What were the design standards used for this container ship? SOLAS seems like the main safety standard and it was last updated in 1974! Seems like all steering is lost with loss of power. There should be at least some redundancy and potentially graceful degradation. There should also be diagnostics that alarm on potential issues. The risks of ships like this are extremely high. So many other industries have lots of standards and regulations. 6 people are missing and they called off the search, not to mention the economic impact of the loss of the bridge. Time for a significant update to SOLAS.
Such a tragedy in Baltimore overnight. Notice the yellow lights flashing on the middle of the bridge. They are vehicles with road workers in them and around them. God bless them all! #MarylandStrong

Senior Field Engineer for The Computer Dudes' Inc. thecomputerdudesinc.com We serve 6 Southern States and the World.
Cargo Ship Hits and destroys "Francis Scott Key" Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, USA "The U.S. Coast Guard told NBC News that it received a report at 1:27 a.m. ET, March 26, 2024, that a “cargo vessel made impact with the bridge” and confirmed the ship was a 948-foot vessel named "The Dali" - a container ship sailing under a Singaporean flag." Video shared below - shows cargo ship lose power twice then hits bridge which instantly collapses with all the traffic and workers on the bridge going into the water. Cargo Ship Design needs new standards - the modern cargo ships are electric powered engines powered by diesel generators. There are not enough or any backup controls or emergency power systems, they are under crewed and often the crew has no training. For a similar incident see the Sinking of the Car Carrier in St. Simons Island, Sound after departing the Port of Brunswick, Georgia. It capsized after passing under a bridge due to "cargo" shifting, improper crewing and power / steering issues. That ship, almost new, had to be cut into pieces to be removed from the St. Simons Island Sound and Port of Brunswick channel. I recommend you watch and share this video - it explains a lot about the world today and why we must have professional and government standards as well as well lit and marked waterways, and bridges traveled by safe vessels with proper crew training and numbers. I feel sadness for all those lost and their families. Godspeed, Todd W. Greatly appreciate the awareness in these types of posts and the people that create and share them. As any help/awareness is crucial. Our team, No Kill San Antonio, spends countless hours digging up the data, analyzing it, providing the public with this information, going to animal related court hearings, requesting open records requests, connecting with others/networking to get the info out there. Rescuing, fostering, adopting, volunteering, and fundraising. Speaking with council members, the mayor, city leaders, going to meetings and events. Not sure if anyone is actually looking at it or Understanding the importance of it. For example if you see a shelter that says they are No Kill. Have you looked into their intake? Are you looking at how many are being actually killed vs euthanized? Has their intake slowed down? And if so, why? What programs do they have in place? Check and find out who their local advocates are. What’s their goals? Do they have a strategic plan. Animals are not a number. Shelter managing is hard. No doubt about it. But we need transparency across the board. Not manipulation. The biggest flaw is the system. The lack of transparency, being honest about what is and isn’t going on and not being able to work together. Humans create problems. Every department that is designed in your city or county are created because of human issues and reasons. We will absolutely never change everyone. So, be honest with yourselves. Look deeper. How is the system being managed. Top to bottom. Is there enough programs in place? Are they efficient? Assessible? Affordable? Is funding there? If so, look into allocation of funding. If not, look into allocation of funding. Is it management? Does this need to change? Or would more funds help? The animals need us more than ever. Vent it out. Some people suck. But remember we need to stay on track!

29 years ago, our community was forever changed. #WeRemember those who were killed on April 19, 1995, and pay tribute to the brave and selfless first responders who confronted danger head-on. We are honored to have Theresa Howell, a MACU staff member and Oklahoma City bombing survivor, share her remarkable story. Theresa believes good things come with tragedy — her faith only grew stronger after that fateful day: "I always look for the light in any dark situation because, with the grace of God, there is always light and His blessings." 🙏 Click here to read Theresa's full story: https://bit.ly/3Uojp0b

Just shared on BEATS WORKING Show with Mark Wright: Dive into the profound journey of Chaplain Mike Ryan, who balances the delicate task of delivering life's hardest news with a compassionate heart. 🕊️ From a national football championship to choosing ministry over the NFL, Mike's dedication to supporting families in grief and ensuring the emotional well-being of first responders is truly inspiring. This episode goes beyond work, touching on a life committed to service during others' most vulnerable moments. #BeatsWorking #BeatsWorkingPodcast #WorkP2P #PuttingWorkFirst #RedeemWork #BusinessPodcast #MarkWright #Business #Leadership #Entrepreneur
Imagine having to be the person who tells someone a family member has died. That's part of Chaplain Mike Ryan's job, serving police and fire agencies on King County's Eastside (five agencies covering nearly 10 communities). In fact, in a recent year, Mike responded to more than 100 death scenes to comfort and help grieving families. Mike's story is a fascinating one. He won a national football championship as a lineman at USC and was drafted by the Oakland Raiders, but he chose to go into the ministry instead. He has since dedicated his life to helping families through trauma and grief—and ensuring #firstresponders get the care they need to stay emotionally healthy. "Firefighting runs in Mike's family," says #BEATSWORKING host Mark Wright, "but after meeting him, I learned it takes a very special person to do the job he does, see the things he sees, and deal with the trauma that comes with death. Our conversation transcends the boundaries of work, reflecting on a life spent in the service of others' most critical moments." We always knew one day we’d hear Noah’s name screamed from the crowds, what we didn’t know is that this tragedy would be the reason. He was gonna be great, he had so much to offer and live for, his life meant so much…We can’t grieve until he gets justice. We won’t stop fighting until justice is served…and even then, no amount of justice will give him back to us but atleast he can rest knowing we didn’t give up and fought for him until the end. #Forever8 #JusticeForNoahand you can go to WTOC for updates, so please share
