Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland hosted 2024 Stokes Scholar and Cuyahoga Community College paralegal student Jasmine DeJesus this summer to learn about nonprofits in our Office of General Counsel. Colleague Sharen Spurrier and I were on hand at the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association as the Scholars received their certificates and shared insights from their summer experience. The future is bright for this fine group of passionate students who are committed to academic excellence and the pursuit of justice!

This past Friday, we celebrated the culmination of this year’s Louis Stokes Scholars Program with an inspiring graduation luncheon. Held in honor of our dedicated scholars, the event was marked by heartfelt speeches, gratitude, and commendable presentations. Brett Hammond, the grandson of the esteemed Louis Stokes, delivered a moving speech, echoing his grandfather’s wisdom to “Aim High” and persevere. The program co-chairs, Brandon Brown, Esq. and Jzinae Jeanbaptiste, expressed their appreciation for the committee, volunteers, employers, and supporters who made the program possible. A special thanks was also extended to the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation and our generous sponsors, Pat Espinosa and Carter Strang. Stokes Scholars showcased what they learned and the significant relationships forged over the summer through impressive presentations. This luncheon not only celebrated their achievements but also set a motivating tone for their future endeavors in the legal field. More photos from the summer here: https://lnkd.in/gy5wvbkP
