The Corpus Christi Hooks and Reliant Energy have partnered on the All-Star Educators Program, a search for outstanding local public-school teachers. Through this program, we surprised 10 local educators with grants for classroom supplies! These teachers are dedicated to their students and influencing education in the Coastal Bend. They will be honored at our game on June 7th ⚾

Thirteen Broward County Public Schools high schools are among the top public high schools in the nation, according to the annual rankings released this week by U.S. News & World Report, with Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy, Pompano Beach High School and McFatter Technical High School in the top 2.5% of all ranked schools in the country. In addition, Atlantic Technical High School and Cypress Bay High School ranked in the top 5%. A group of educators moved in to the Fairfield County Teacher Village this weekend. This village gives educators in the district an affordable housing option with a short commute to rural schools. Juan Alvarado is the inaugural Educator in Residence in the USC College of Education house in the village. He is beginning his first year in the classroom. “You do take a moment and think, ‘Is this too good to be true?’” Alvarado said, “I’m thankful for the position and (that) I took advantage of the opportunity.” See the full story on WIS-TV: bit.ly/46EFL1T

I had the privilege of sharing the importance of breadth as embodied in the College of the Ozarks general education curriculum which prepares students to tackle a wide range of tasks at work and in life. Breadth is important for engineering graduates, half of whom are not in explicit engineering roles, as well as any graduate who wants to be prepared for the wonderfully diverse world we live in. https://lnkd.in/gWBcYERe
