A significant step towards a greener future for aviation in Norway 🤝 At Norse, and as an industry, we are happy about the news of the Norwegian government's commitment to allocating NOK 1 billion in the National Transport Plan, which marks a pivotal moment in accelerating the green shift within our industry. As an airline committed to sustainability, we are proud to see concrete efforts being made to address aviation's environmental impact. This investment will play a crucial role in facilitating the transition to zero-emission solutions. We understand that achieving green aviation is a complex journey that requires collective effort and long-term planning. However, with initiatives like this, we are confident that we are moving in the right direction. We look forward to seeing the transformative impact of this investment unfold over the coming years. You may have heard of that container vessel getting prototype sails... well check out the Michelin WISAMO wing sail. It is inflatable, which solves all kinds of problems with manufacturing and deployment of a sail. This is really cool. I can imagine container ship routes being affected and subject to trade winds and weather in their route planning. Question: are there security consequences for this? Would so much traffic still pass through the South China Sea or might this be impacted somewhat? Just an idea :) https://lnkd.in/gCMRPT7w

VIETNAM’S POTENTIAL TO BUILD SAF PRODUCTION PLANT 🌟 SAFs play a crucial role in commercial aviation, potentially reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 80%. These fuels can be derived from various feedstocks such as oil seed plants, algae, municipal solid waste, fats, oils... or synthetically produced, utilizing carbon captured directly from the air. ✨ Mr. Nguyen Vu Michael, Director of Boeing Vietnam, highlighted the necessity of expanding SAF production to ensure a sustainable future for the global aviation industry. Vietnam possesses ample raw materials, including bagasse, coconut fiber, and rice, presenting a significant opportunity to revolutionize the transportation sector by producing SAF. 💙 On May 27, Vietnam Airlines operated ít first flight from Singapore to Hanoi using blended SAF. This milestone marks Vietnam Airlines as the first airline in Vietnam's history to utilise SAF for commercial passenger flights. #VietnamAirlines #CherishEveryMile

Last week’s Air Quality (AQ) showed unhealthy conditions (AQ above 100) in Akurana, Dambulla, Kurunegala, Colombo, Battaramulla and Negombo, while Digana, Nawalapitiya, Nuwara Eliya, Gampaha and Ambalantota showed moderate conditions (AQI range: 51 - 100). On February 21, the quality of the air has deteriorated in most places. Dambulla and Akurana recorded the peak value (137 AQI) on 21st February. For the next week, the wind flow will remain north-easterly from the Southern Indian Ocean at 10-20 kmph. The South Korean government has announced a landmark initiative to require a 1% blend of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for all international flights departing from the country starting in 2027. This move positions South Korea as the 20th country globally to adopt SAF refueling. Presenting the "SAF Expansion Strategy" at Incheon International Airport, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy emphasized the environmental benefits of SAF, which is chemically similar to conventional jet fuel but reduces carbon emissions by an average of 80%. Minister Park Sang-woo stated, "The use of SAF is not an option but a necessity," highlighting the government's commitment to decarbonizing the aviation sector and establishing South Korea as a leader in carbon neutrality. The mandatory SAF blend is expected to cut carbon emissions by approximately 160,000 tons annually, equivalent to the emissions from about 53,000 domestic passenger cars. However, to mitigate potential fare increases, the government plans to support airlines, as SAF currently costs 2-3 times more than regular jet fuel. For instance, the airfare for the Incheon-Paris route may rise by approximately ₩6,000 ($. In addition to SAF blending, the government is considering a "Carbon Mileage Program" to reward passengers using SAF flights and plans to reduce airport facility usage fees. Domestic airlines are already taking steps to incorporate SAF: Korean Air will begin using domestically produced SAF this month on the Incheon-Haneda route, while T'way Air has blended eco-friendly jet fuel on its new Paris-Incheon route. This initiative marks a significant step towards a sustainable future in aviation, reinforcing South Korea's commitment to environmental responsibility. AIRCRAFT/ENGINE ACQUISITION, LEASING, AIRCRAFT PRE PURCHASE INSPECTION, CHARTER, AVIATION PAPER, AVIATION CONCEPTION, AI FOR AVIATION BUSINESS (FUEL EFFICIENCY, MARKET WEB OPTIMIZATION, NEW DISTRIBUTION CAPABILITY, ETC)
Why is Indonesia's investment climate unfavourable for operating amphibious aircraft? Since the Bureaucracy mandates that all operational amphibious aircraft can only make water landings on facilities known as waterbases. Waterbases are currently only suitable for point-to-point (waterbase to waterbase) amphibious aircraft operations. Landing on open water, such as beside cruise ships, is not currently possible. To make Indonesia's potential for amphibious flights the greatest commodity in the world, it will need the cooperation of many parties and Seaplane 5.0 to re-identify this issue. Seems like the recurring incidences of fuel shortage will not go away anytime soon. PNG is operating like a tucker shop where the drinks in the cooler can be warm or cold depending on availability of fuel for the Genset so really no one seems to care! I hope a permanent solution can be found sooner! There's already enough suggestions on possible solution to this fuel shortage matter to resolve it once and for all. Why are are we continuously in fuel shortage mode every nth day?

FuelEU is in the news once again and there is enormous risk for #shipowners and #cruise lines who get it wrong. Cruise lines will need to comply with both #FuelEU and #EUETS for the foreseeable future and it's going to get expensive fast. Reporting under multiple regimes (IMO DCS, EU MRV, FuelEU) is a nightmare for #shipowners fraught with penalties. SailPlan helps our customers immediately by reporting accurate, timely fuel consumption and tracking the fuel types and blends for you. We do the heavy lifting for your teams with validated data.
