As my internship wraps up at TEKsystems, I took some time to reflect on this amazing experience. For 10 weeks, I was able to learn about TEKsystems as a Global Technology Business and narrow in on the recruitment of Data Analytics professionals. In addition, I gained a true understanding of the “why” behind TEK as a technology partner to various sized companies around the world. The culture within the Milwaukee Delivery Center office is incomparable to anything I have ever experienced. I truly believe that it is the little things that add up to create a positive culture within the four walls of an office. Although I will never be able to explain enough to give this company justice, here are some things that describe the culture at TEK that I was lucky enough to witness within my 10 short weeks: · Everyone celebrates a team member’s win no matter how big or small. · On the flip side- the team is there to lift anyone up after a loss. · When anyone was leaving the office at the end of the day, there would be at least 5 people telling them to have a good night. · I rarely passed by someone without them smiling at me or asking how I was doing. · The entire MDC started the week together and ended the week together with an upbeat meeting to enhance unity and to celebrate each other. · There was music playing throughout the office at the start of everyday. · There are friendly, competitive games throughout the different teams in the MDC. Above, are just the beginning of my laundry list of examples that allowed me to thrive within the TEK environment. Because of these things, my walls came down after my first few hours of being in such a comfortable, accepting, and positive environment. As a new hire or intern, it makes a world of a difference for something as simple as being greeted with a smile or having the door held open for us. It could take 2 seconds out of a seasoned employee’s day to make our entire week, and this is instilled within everyone at TEK. With this being said, I am so grateful for the team at TEKsystems that welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like I belonged since Day 1. Whether they realize it or not, I looked up to everyone as a mentor and will carry the things they all taught me throughout my entire career. If anyone is looking for an incredible internship or post grad career- I could not recommend TEKsystems enough. The ability to grow within a company is something we all consider when looking for post grad roles and TEK has that waiting for us all. https://lnkd.in/gJv9BuCK To my TEK family- THANK YOU!

Paige Bongiorno Boise, ID She/Her I love what I do. I'm the Career Outreach Manager for the Idaho Division of Human Resources. I help address workforce shortages and find innovative solutions to recruit and retain employees. I never anticipated a career in public service. Seeing people struggle to get training or overcome barriers to employment really motivated me. I get so much joy from helping people discover their passions and knock down obstacles in their way. Now, I can't imagine doing anything else. I want to be the change for every worker and for everyone to have the chance to succeed. The relationships I've built and directly impacting people's lives have been a real highlight. Recently, I helped a military family get a fellowship with the state. Seeing them walk into the office on their first day, and congratulating them in person - that feeling doesn't compare to anything. One experience that profoundly shaped me was having dinner with a friend who was unsure of their career path. After learning about their interests in computers and law enforcement, I suggested cybersecurity. A few days later, they called to say they’d enrolled in a program. Two years after that, they graduated and launched a cybersecurity career. Moments like that fill me with purpose. Looking ahead, I want to create new pathways into public service through apprenticeships, internships, and skills-based hiring. I envision working on workforce issues at the national level, using my voice and relationships to be a catalyst for change across the country. Collaboration between education, government, and industry will be crucial. What drives me are the possibilities to innovate and make a real difference, despite the challenges. I've been doubted because of my alternative education path, but I know all journeys deserve to be celebrated. I'll keep believing in myself and creating opportunities for others to thrive. Whether it's envisioning a new role, implementing a successful program, or helping someone pinpoint their passion - that endless potential to transform lives is what motivates me every single day. If you’re interested in learning how you can join the movement to implement skills-first, STAR-centered strategies to address your public sector workforce challenges, please join the Public Sector Hub Launch on 5/16! https://lnkd.in/euPWdqyF Opportunity@Work / Tear The Paper Ceiling #humansofpublicservice #TearThePaperCeiling, #HireSTARs, #STARsinPublicService

A great evening last night at the Enterprise Event with The Careers & Enterprise Company and Local London Thank you Marnie Bourne Caroline K. and Tracy Eve for sharing some great information with us. Here are some of my takeaways: ⭐ An organisation opening the conversation about neurodiversity can enable candidates to feel comfortable declaring their neurodivergence and increase their chances of finishing their apprenticeship as they can be supported with reasonable adjustments ⭐ Through job carving, you can customise job duties to create roles that play to the strengths of individuals, which can support those with disabilities in finding work. ⭐ There needs to be five touch points for an individual to become aware of an industry or sector. If your business is not engaging with diverse talent pools, then candidates will remain unaware of your industry. It was great to make some new connections and I look forward to the next event.

Seasoned FMCG marketer and business leader | ex-P&G | ex-Meta | MBA | I offer pro bono coaching to help people grow & navigate the corporate jungle with my 20 years of experience (and mistakes)!
I left P&G 14 years ago this month. The strong fundamentals I acquired, learning how to be a great people manager and the genuine friendships I’ve kept to this day made P&G a place second to none! I still can’t believe my dumb luck of landing the role. I got to know the vacancy through a friend’s friend, applied, sat through a series of written tests before being interviewed by 3 senior managers. Apparently up to 80% of candidates don’t even pass the test stage, so I’m really baffled how I got through 😅. I honestly don’t know what’s the magic in their recruitment process but they seem to always hire Type-A, INTJ / INFJ personalities and I often felt like the dumbest person in the room. And that’s a great thing; being in a super competitive, yet motivating environment with people smarter than yourself. Since then, I’ve come to realise, those are the places I tend to thrive in! Though I wish I still have the stamina of my P&G days, I’m glad I have a bit more wisdom now. 🤓 All that aside, my key learning is to always invest in your own growth and play the long game for your career. I was already a Brand Manger with a local SME, but joined P&G by taking a 20% pay cut, a step down title-wise, and giving up a company car, which was a big deal when you’re earning < RM4K (<USD 1K) a month. I was also paying for my MBA then, so I was really feeling the pinch. But I sucked it up and started “at the bottom” again (despite having 4 years of work experience), because I knew that having P&G on my CV would probably be as good as having an IV league university to my name. And I’ve been proven right for the last 10+ years. So cheers to dumb luck and a little foresight! 😎 More on taking risks in my career in my next post 😉 Photo taken last year (2023) with some of my fav colleagues from P&G whom I still consider my good friends to date!
