Financial Planning for Women & LGBTQIA+ Doctors | Veterinarians | Attorneys & Business Owners. Together we are Planning For Good!
“We are going to allow Medicare to cover the cost of home care so seniors can get the help and care they need in their own home.” – VP Kamala Harris Long-term Care and longevity planning are among the core planning areas for Planning for Good, LLC, especially for our LGBTQ+ clients. 🌈 It is constantly a topic we discuss with our clients and our peers at Females and Finance Community, UNITY™ Programship at Females and Finance™ and Compass Programship at Females and Finance™. And it is what GenPride, the nonprofit where I sit on the board, is dedicated to helping LGBT seniors age with pride. 🏳️🌈 Last night, when I heard Kamala Harris say that on the Ellipse, it gave me hope. It gave me hope for my clients that they will get the care they need, and it gave me hope for the parents, the children, and quite frankly, the financial planners who have been trying to navigate this space for a long time. 💖 And it’s not just on the ballot in Washington state for the presidential race; it’s also on the ballot because we have the Washington Cares Fund initiative. Several of the candidates have taken stances on long-term care in our state. Please keep this in mind: the baby boomer generation is growing, and care is becoming a necessity in many households. 🏡 So remember that when you go into the ballot box. Vote for senior care! 🗳️ #SeniorCare #Medicare #LGBTQ #LongTermCare #WashingtonCaresFund #VoteForCare #PlanningForGood #AgingWithPride #Healthcare #ElderCare

July is #DisabilityPrideMonth Statistics from the England & Wales Census 2021 show that people who identified as LGBTQ+ were more likely to be disabled than the overall population of England and Wales; the largest differences were among 16-24 year olds, where 32.4% of people who identified as LGBTQ+ were disabled, compared with 12.6% in the overall population of the same age (Office for National Statistics UK). In 2021, the trans-led UK organisation, TransActual surveyed 700 trans people. Just under half of those who responded were disabled, and over half were neurodivergent. Being LGBTQ+ and disabled increases the chances of discrimination and bias, increases barriers to equality and limits access to many services. This can lead to a higher likelihood of unemployment, poverty, social isolation and physical and mental health issues. This is why it’s important for service providers, educators, healthcare professionals and employers to create more inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ disabled people, and especially important to raise awareness of Disability Pride Month. We want our LGBTQ+ students to feel seen, heard, safe and included, and we want ALL of our students and staff to understand the importance of allyship. Today we were visited by Ellie Lowther FRSA, an inspirational neurodivergent, trans, role model. Among many other amazing things, she created the UK’s first trans safe house project, founded the SYSTEMIC choir, hosts a radio show and delivers inclusivity and intersectional workshops and training in a variety of settings. Ellie facilitated a workshop for our students about trans awareness, diversity and inclusivity. She shared facts and stats, in a wonderful, interactive workshop, which the students loved. She also shared the story of her personal journey, and we even had a singalong. Thanks Ellie for an informative, thought-provoking and fun workshop. 🏳️⚧️💚 Nicole Whitfield, Emily Maskey #DisabilityPrideMonth #LGBTQ #TransLivesMatter
