Today, Tuesday 9/10, is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay. Did you know that according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is 1 death by suicide every 11 minutes in the United States? You should be as alarmed by that figure as I am… On a more hopeful note, 94% of American adults believe suicide can be prevented. Are you with us? Join me and my fellow Volunteer Advocates at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) by joining the fight to #stopsuicide! One easy way to make a difference is to urge your elected officials to support the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act and support the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. AFSP makes it easy to take action. Visit https://lnkd.in/g8nmfWdu to not only learn more about each campaign, but also to send a templated email to your federal and state public officials asking them to distribute some of their 2025 funding to these lifesaving initiatives. Not sure who those are? No problem – AFSP auto-populates those officials once you enter your city and state, making it a simple and quick process! Many of you who have connected with me over the years are familiar with my efforts to advocate for mental health and suicide prevention resources, education, and legislation. Although I am not holding my own fundraiser for AFSP this year, I encourage those who have supported me in the past to please still consider donating. AFSP is one of the few nonprofits that keeps administrative and fundraising costs to 20%, well below the industry standard of 35%. This means you can contribute confidently knowing that more of every dollar is going toward programs and research dedicated to saving lives. Recognizing the signs of an overdose and knowing how to respond can save lives: 🆘 **Steps to Help Stop an Overdose:** 1. Call 911 immediately. 2. Administer naloxone if available. 3.
