Proud of this article for several reasons: 1. It represents the work of a lot of people. Starting with an idea through execution, I got to be the team lead in the execution but the key ideas came from Jayson Kratoville, Amber Silver, Terry Hastings, Andrew McMahon, and others. 2. I believe that internships and experiential learning opportunities, when done correctly, can be a multiplier for the sponsoring organization and a career-expanding experience for the student. 3. We successfully applied this same model to the UAlbany Student Support Team during the COVID-19 Response which expanded the VOST model from Emergency Management to Public Health. Read about here: https://lnkd.in/dZKsWghh 4. First-time I'm listed as a co-author! Amber Silver is the PI, writer, and an amazing colleague.

I am deeply saddened by the recent event that happened in Tobago! What a terrible event they just suffered!! The impact of oil spills on our 🌎 is devastating. I feel personally for them. It takes me back to 1978, When I was 6 years old, I witnessed the catastrophic consequences of the Amoco Cadiz, a very large crude carrier, transporting crude oil for Shell oil. She ran aground 2 kilometers from the Coast of Brittany. She split in 3 and sank! Resulting in the largest oil spill of its kind in history to that date. That's why I am today a partner with MatterofTrust.org. Contingency plans need to be in place in every port and harbour and coast line. Have High Commissioners, Harbor Commissioners, International Maritime Organization (IMO), HAVEN'T THEY LEARNED ANYTHING!? I QUESTION THEIR COMPETENCES! "The IOPC Funds is sorry to learn of the oil pollution incident currently affecting Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago is a 1992 Fund Member State, however, a number of significant details regarding the incident and the vessel remain unconfirmed at this stage, including the type of vessel and whether it was carrying persistent oil as cargo. It is therefore not possible to determine whether the 1992 Civil Liability and Fund Conventions would apply to this incident at this stage. The IOPC Funds will continue to monitor developments, and remains ready to assist the Government, should it be called upon to do so." so they have not deployed any action to save the Sea!!!???? What is their real purpose? I question their Authority #oilspill #oilspillresponse #incompetence #commissioner #authority #peoplefirst
