💼 Creating Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities One of the critical focus areas discussed at the National Disability Summit was creating better employment pathways for people with disabilities. From increasing employer education to boosting support systems, it’s clear we need to break down barriers and provide real opportunities for all Australians. This☝ in my opinion is the hardest thing that we face as an organisation. Employers say they will call you back, and they never do. Then we offer volunteering as an option with extended strategies for the safety of participant and others, but they still won't take it up. #DisabilityEmployment #InclusiveWorkplace #BreakingBarriers

🌟 Achieving Disability Inclusive Employment 🌟 A paper I’ve just read (Shaw, et al., 2022) about creating inclusive environments argues that despite the ambition and rhetoric, meaningful employment for persons with disabilities remains a vexing problem globally. 🌟 The authors advocate to actively involve disabled people and other stakeholders, so we can gain deeper insights and foster innovative solutions. We need to be honest about the entrenched blockages and underlying beliefs needed to bring about major shifts in practice and culture.  It's about breaking down the barriers together and creating meaningful change.
