The New York Times claims that soldiers should not use humor during war, arguing that it undermines dignity. In my opinion, the subject is much more nuance. There is humor intended to prevent wrongful acts in war and as a way to deal with the trauma, and there is humor that harms the human dignity -- how can we know what is right?
