Taking care of our team members and their families is at the Core of who we are. We created the CORE-Kids Bonus Program to support the kids of Core teammates with financial assistance for enrollment fees related to educational and enrichment programs that suit them. One of our team members shared, "My husband and I cannot tell you how incredibly thankful we have been for this generous offer. It’s been put to good use! It’s been helping us financially to keep the kids busy and give them the best summer that they deserve!" We are thrilled to support those that matter to our team! In a country struggling with poor infrastructure and management, sometimes it takes a spark of empathy to inspire action. Today, on an incredibly hot summer day, I visited a school and witnessed firsthand the hardships these children face. During the winter, we provided them with warm clothes, and now, in this sweltering summer, we have brought them fans to help them endure the heat and avoid fainting in their classrooms. These children, aged 6 to 8, study in classrooms without even basic fans. Standing there, I couldn't help but think of my own children, who learn in comfortable, well-equipped schools. The stark contrast between their experiences and those of the kids in this government school was truly heart-wrenching. At SpeedWings Group, we knew we had to do something. As part of our corporate social responsibility initiative, we decided to install fans in their classrooms to provide some relief from the oppressive heat. With summer temperatures soaring to 40 degrees Celsius under the steel roofs, it’s nearly impossible for these kids to focus and learn. Imagine trying to study in such conditions. It's a small gesture, but we hope it brings some comfort and perhaps even a few smiles to their faces during their studies. We are honored to be part of this effort, knowing that even a small act of kindness can make a significant difference in their lives and bring joy to these wonderful children. #CSR #SocialResponsibility #HelpingHands #ChildEducation #BetterFuture #CommunitySupport #SummerRelief #EducationForAll #SpreadSmiles #MakingADifference #SupportEducation

💜 Honored to Have Volunteered at Fly Higher - FHI Event on Seeking Solutions – March 10, 2024 💜 I’m truly grateful for the chance to have volunteered at a wonderful event with Fly Higher - FHI on March 10, 2024, where the theme was "Seeking Solutions". 🌟 During the event, we spent meaningful time with the children, engaging them in a series of activities designed to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The goal was to encourage the kids to not only identify challenges but also explore practical ways to solve them. A solution-based approach is essential in helping children build confidence and resilience as they face real-life situations. Some of the activities we conducted included: -Enacted plays based on real-life situations, allowing the children to step into different roles and think creatively about potential solutions. -Writing points on how to save the environment, encouraging them to reflect on ways to protect and preserve the planet. -Playing fun games with younger kids, helping them develop teamwork and communication skills while having a great time. It was a truly rewarding experience, and I’m proud to have contributed to an initiative that empowers children to become proactive problem-solvers. Creating a space where every child feels encouraged to think critically and explore solutions is a crucial step toward building a better future. 💫 #SeekingSolutions #ProblemSolving #Volunteering #ChildDevelopment #Empowerment #NGO #MakingADifference

Head Teacher at St. Ebbes Primary School. The purpose of St. Ebbes is to nurture wise, compassionate citizens with the power to make a difference, driven by our three core values: Curiosity. Courage. Connection.
Since reading Punished by Rewards by Alfie Kohn and numerous posts by Naomi Fisher about the negative effects of individual rewards on children, we have worked with children to create a weekly celebration that our community loves. It’s based on Brené Brown’s definition of Belonging and the Latin definition of Genius as ‘the attendant spirit present from one’s birth’ rather than the Renaissance definition which is widely adopted, as the preserve of the few. It’s simple. Each class shares which of our three core values (curiosity, courage and connection) that they have demonstrated as a team that week. This is followed by ‘Passion Sharing’ where children share anything that they are passionate about. We’ve had gymnasts, comedians, magicians, why wasps are better than bees, an acapella version of the history of the moving picture show, the sharing of Marcus du Sortoy’s maths games, musicians and much more. After their sharing, they sign the ‘Genius Ball’. Everyone who applies gets to share. We’ve cultivated a culture around this assembly and there is a code which creates a psychologically safe space, without risk of the shame that has permeated our education system and our society for so long, the shame that by makes us want to hide our light under a bushel. As time goes on, we are finding that children who may have been labelled as ‘shy’ are volunteering to share and we sometimes give them a little nudge of encouragement. I can’t describe how magical it is each week. It’s magical because it’s about celebrating individuals but not individualism. The children aren’t competing with each other, they are just showing their authentic selves. My blog describes what unfolded this week if you’d like to read more❤️. https://lnkd.in/gzfwDrhn

From the age of 7 years old, I spent two weeks away from my parents (with no contact other than letters) in the wild with complete strangers. I spent a lot of time cold and wet, but I was given the freedom to explore and discover, and those two weeks quickly became my favourite part of the year. For nine years, I kept going back. This experience was part of Forest School Camps (FSC), an educational charity run by volunteers. It offers kids from all backgrounds the chance to live simply, under canvas, while learning about self-reliance, community, and resilience. Looking back, I realise how ahead of its time, FSC was in fostering inclusion and helping kids develop the inner strength to face challenges. The camp’s approach, rooted in ideas from experimental educators, Quakerism, and the Wood craft movement, has always been about bringing people together in nature while embracing individuality and democratic values. At camp, we were grouped by age into categories with names like Elves, Woodlings, and Pathfinders, but also organised into mixed-age “clans” where we shared responsibilities. From setting up tents to chopping wood, building fires, and cooking meals for the whole camp, we learned practical skills that helped us bond with one another and feel like a real community. Everyone pitched in, whether you were an experienced camper or someone with special needs—FSC welcomed kids from all walks of life, and that was one of the most powerful parts of the experience. Spending two weeks with just the essentials—a tent, your clothes, and some other basic items—showed me how different people’s lives and perspectives can be. It made me realise that being open to new experiences, especially with people who are different from you, creates endless opportunities to learn and grow. Over those years, I developed key life skills like problem-solving, creativity, and social awareness. But more importantly, I believe those camps deeply shaped my emotional intelligence. Working, playing, and exploring alongside people from so many different backgrounds helped me understand the importance of empathy, collaboration, and curiosity, traits I continue to value in both my personal and professional life. #growthmindset #resilience #learninganddevelopment #emotionalintelligence

How has your school experience made a difference in your life? For our #SchoolSuccess Drive with Cornerstone Advocacy Services Christian, our Recruiter, shares how his education pushed him to achieve his goals. "My education has been pivotal in shaping who I am today. It provided structure, helped me establish a daily routine, and laid down important foundations. Transitioning from high school to college was a reality check that required effort, time, and encouragement to push towards achieving great things. Balancing academics, social life, and personal time was a significant life lesson that molded me into the person I am now. These experiences have been invaluable in my growth." Education is a powerful tool that shapes our future. It equips us with knowledge and skills, instills values, builds character, and opens doors to opportunities. That's why providing essential school supplies is crucial. As families and children start a new from experiencing violence, accessing essential resources can be challenging due to financial constraints. Providing school supplies gives them a positive start on their path to recovery. Support this cause at: https://buff.ly/4exEIEy #CommunitySupport #GivingBack #PositiveChange #AwardCares

Did you know that 40% of 11 year-olds in England from communities facing disadvantage leave primary school unable to read to the expected standard? Through Chapter One, a number of my colleagues and I are volunteering online for 30 minutes a week to help children facing disadvantage improve their reading skills. The whole experience is fun and rewarding and so easy to fit into my working week. chapterone.org #volunteersweek #chapteronevolunteer #employeevolunteering #onlinevolunteering #corporatepartnerships #employeewellbeing #socialvalue
