I CAME OUT ABOUT MY AGE at CDW last week. A great day on Wednesday catching up with clients, placed candidates and friends. I can't actually believe it'll be my 60th birthday in December! It's like, how the hell did that happen! Have I got my birth date wrong? I honestly don't feel my age at all. I think we all have a preconception from previous generations, that wow, 60 is old. We're gonna be becoming cart horses, rather than racehorses. That's just total bollocks. It's all in the mind. It's all to do with how physically and mentally active we are. It's about having a purpose, a passion, projects to work on. It's about socialising with ALL age groups, having great banter and having fun. It's about not taking things too seriously and living each day meaningfully. No-one gives a toss about my age. They know me for ME. For my wisdom and experience, empathy and passion for what I do and how I do it. OK, I get more aches and pains than I used to, but that doesn't stop me exercising every single day. I would actually say that being almost 60 in today's world, is more like being almost 45. So a message to all hiring companies, age is just a number, and shouldn't even be a consideration. Which leads me into 'the great unretirement'...for another post! Who else is turning 60 this year, and how do you feel about it? Hopefully as cool about it as I am 😁 #positivevibes #sharedgoals #woodwardrecruitment

As the CEO of Quantix, my days are filled with decisions, strategy, and a constant drive towards innovation and excellence. Yet, amidst this whirlwind of responsibilities, one of my most cherished roles is that of a parent, specifically during those precious morning moments when I drop my kids off at school. In today's fast-paced corporate world, it's easy to get caught in the belief that professional success comes at the expense of personal time, especially family time. However, I've come to realize that these moments with our children are not just invaluable for their growth and happiness but are also fundamental to our own success and well-being. Recent studies underscore this sentiment, revealing that parents actively involved in their children's lives tend to exhibit higher productivity and satisfaction levels at work. For instance, a study by the Boston College Center for Work & Family found that fathers who spend more time with their children report feeling more secure and less stressed at work, directly impacting their engagement and effectiveness positively. But beyond the numbers, it's about the unquantifiable joy and perspective these moments bring. The morning school drop-off is a time to connect, to listen, and to share in the small yet significant moments of our children's daily lives. It's an opportunity to demonstrate by action the values of responsibility, care, and balance that we hold dear at Quantix. In nurturing their sense of security and belonging, we inadvertently nurture our own sense of purpose and fulfillment. It's a gentle reminder each morning of why we do what we do – not just to provide, but to lead by example, showing that success is not merely measured by professional achievements, but by the positive impact we have on the lives of those we cherish most. So, to all the working parents juggling meetings and milestones with parenting and presence, remember that these moments are more than just drop-offs. They're investments in our children's future and our own, a testament to the enduring Quantix belief that true success encompasses both our careers and our families.

Why finding time to drop the kids at school may matter so much to hard working parents and how it can actually help your staff. Michael Haase CEO of Quantix provides his insight.

Microloan assistance, financial literacy...
When Terri moved to Wisconsin from Illinois, she had all of her ducks in a row - she thought. After facing unexpected financial hurdles, she was left with nothing. She connected with Society of St. Vincent de Paul — Madison and received a home visit from two members. During their time together, a glimmer of hope emerged. Terri became the first recipient of a microloan from our new program which helped her move into her apartment, pay off her moving costs and reestablish her saving goals. If we were to reduce the permitting and reporting on business in PA and the USA, you'd see a lot more entrepreneurship and small biz activity.
This week's #DataGram celebrates #NationalSmallBusinessWeek! Did you know that over half of Pennsylvania businesses have less than five employees? 💼 https://lnkd.in/eKpzNM4R

Let’s talk about breadwinners. 🍞 As we're learning at New Dimes, this term sparks a lot of emotions, especially amongst first-gen folks. From pride and joy to exhaustion and resentment, it’s a role that carries real weight. Here’s what we’re hearing from the breadwinners in our community: 🍞 "Being the breadwinner, I've had to do hella work to not feel resentful, not be consumed by pressure, and be joyful in this role." 🍞 "Breadwinning is the ability to provide financial support to my immigrant parents so they can access a season of rest." 🍞 "I do it all, but it's also an honor to care for my mom, because she gave us her all. I am learning to practice doing less & still knowing it's enough. " 🍞 "Breadwinning is providing for my chosen family beyond financial support. Bread = sustenance and nourishment." Being a first-gen breadwinner means balancing conflicting truths while redefining what this role can look like. It’s about making space for gentle ambition and rest, support and boundaries, community care and self-care. And here’s the thing: many of us are ✨already✨ doing this work. We’re reconciling, redesigning, and reshaping what it means to be a provider in ways that reflect our values. As we continue to create these new paths, let’s remind ourselves: Us breadwinners deserve to enjoy this journey. 💪🏽🍞

Spotted! Our very own Doris Li Yeh and Chen Jodie Lin at the iMWomen Bay Area meet-up! This group of amazing women are the movers and shakers of our industry and to network and learn from them shows how far this industry has come. More importantly, how fast it is growing. The world relies on digital infrastructure and we're the first line of defense to continue to spread the word on how important this industry is and how we need to take action to get the younger generation involved and interested. Mirapath, full service infrastructure provider, is just one of the many leading companies that care about the growth of talent in our industry. Fun fact: did you know that Mirapath is women and minority-owned? Interested in getting involved? Reach out to organizations like iMWomen, Nomad Futurist Foundation, AFCOM NorCal - Silicon Valley! #WomenInTech #WomenLeaders #DiversityInTech #TechIndustry #Networking #Mirapath
