We are pleased to share that earlier today Olympia Financial Group (OLY.TSX) reported solid results across the board for Q2 2024. Dividend yield of 6.7% has 2x coverage ratio. >Q2 total revenue increased by 5% to $26.3M YoY. >Trust revenue grew by 7% and services revenue grew by 2%. >6-month revenue grew by 7% to $52.1M YoY from $48.7M >6-month earnings increased by 4% to $11.6M YoY from $11.2M >Revenue hit the high-end of expected range, while net earnings was in the middle of the expected range >Regardless of interest rate cuts, OLY continues to perform ahead of analyst expectations Share Price Target is $135.00 Stock closed at $107.00 yesterday For the three months ending June 31, 2024;  Total net earnings and comprehensive income was essentially flat at $5.9 million compared to $6.0 million in the previous year. Total revenue increased 5% to $26.3 million from $25.1 million, mainly due to an increase in trust income in the Investment Account Services division. Service revenue increased 2% to $12.2 million from $11.9 million, mainly due to an increase in monthly and transaction fees. Trust, interest, and other income increased 7% to $14.1 million from $13.2 million, due to higher interest rates on trust fund placements made over the previous 12 months. Basic and diluted earnings per share attributable to shareholders of Olympia decreased 1% to $2.45 per share from $2.48 per share. Olympia Financial Group continues to grow top-line revenue ahead of analyst expectations. Trust revenue remained insensitive to dovish interest rate policy due to the terms of its account holdings. Additionally, the account base continues to grow, which is a natural hedge against future interest rate reductions. At around 10.4x PE ratio, Olympia trades at a 50% discount to its closest peers (CPU.AU & X.TSX) which are in the 22x range. First half performance suggests that interest rate risks are not playing out in OLY performance, and compared to its peers, the stock remains undervalued. Recently, small cap institutional funds have been accumulating shares, and the Q2 earnings report should provide investor confidence that OLY is trending ahead of performance expectations, and that its current $7.20 annual dividend is solid. The TTM ROE for OLY is 30.3%, which is among the highest within its broader peer group of specialized financials. Note: Before comparing our performance with others, I want to tell all of you our only intention is to showcase our progress, capabilities, and strength to current and future stakeholders globally. If you check, you'll see that Blackrock's highest average returns over the last three years, among approximately 1100 funds globally, stand at 34.48%. Blackrock's business financial performance includes Sales of $18.61 billion, Income of $5.50 billion, with a Gross Margin of 77.71%, an Operating Margin of 37.97%, and a Profit Margin of 29.56%. PMZWC: From Aug 2021 to the present, we've generated returns of around 83%. Our target is to achieve a total return of approximately 115.76% to 148.52% within the next 26 weeks, marking three years of our journey. However, when it comes to larger financial numbers like Sales of $18.61 billion and Income of $5.50 billion, we're not even in this league due to two reasons: 1) we're now much smaller in terms of company size, age, market cap, sales, and income numbers, and 2) we haven't started our massive scaling and expansion yet. By the way, we'll start that soon, and our business financial numbers will be bigger as we grow more in the future :). So, as I said earlier, we've already proven and validated this claim to some extent. "Numbers don't lie, but people do..." I'm sure you've been feverishly checking Linked In for my part 2 to my post. Well, the wait is over... In Part 1 of buying IT MSP companies, we are pre-NDA and pre-LOI, and I shared a few of my observations from the gut. So, you're moving on from fun "what if" and "blue sky" discussions toward NDA and LOI. Now let's move to the seller's financials. Lesson 1 -> Numbers don't lie, but people do... Sellers are trying to spin their story through their numbers. And funny thing here is they can share 10 years of financials that may show very slow growth or even a decline in recent years, BUT... "Next year is going to be our best year in business with double the revenue and triple the profitability" Simply file that under "interesting" for now and move on. Assuming the seller has financials, here’s a few red flags I look for: …Balance Sheet Red Flags… Current Assets / Current Liabilities < 1: Seller doesn't have enough short-term assets to cover its short-term liabilities = liquidity problems. Total Liabilities / Shareholders' Equity: A high ratio here means the seller is over-leveraged and will struggle to meet its debt obligations. If AR is growing faster than revenue, it usually (not always) indicates difficulties in collecting payments from customers, which leads to cash flow issues. Check payment terms. Lack of investment in technology and infrastructure means the seller is struggling to maintain its operations. …Income Statement Red Flags… A consistent steady decline in revenue over multiple periods (quarters) indicates a loss of customers or reduced market demand for the seller's services. (Revenue - Cost of Goods Sold) / Revenue: A shrinking gross margin means rising costs or pricing pressures, which screams operational inefficiencies or competitive issues. Operating Income / Revenue: A low or negative operating margin reflects sloppy cost management and potential operational issues. Net Income / Revenue: A negative net profit margin indicates the seller is not profitable. Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization: A negative or declining EBITDA suggests core operational issues that could impact long-term viability. BUYER BEWARE! Look for excessive "add back" nonsense. Consistent negative cash flow from operations indicates the seller is not generating enough cash from its core activities to sustain itself, a major red flag for financial distress. Rising accounts payable without a corresponding increase in revenue tells me that the seller is delaying payments to suppliers due to cash flow issues. Target these items in the seller's financials, ask questions, check the math, scrutinize the "add backs", and remember... Numbers don't lie, but people do...
