As part of our ongoing efforts to align with our core values, we’ve made the decision to step back from X (formerly Twitter) and shift our focus to platforms that better support our mission. In recent years, we’ve observed a rise in misinformation, changes to algorithms that disproportionately impact non-governmental organizations, and troubling trends such as climate change denial and harmful content. After careful consideration, we feel it’s time to prioritize engagement through alternative channels. 🦋 We invite you to connect with us on BlueSky, where we will continue to share our key messages and updates: https://lnkd.in/dP_4gJxc

Great blog here ⬇ about why Ruth Beattie is leaving X At SCCCC we have been thinking about this for a while. Especially now, as you have to pay for your analytics, adverts are rammed into your face, and engagement is minimal. Let me know your thoughts.

We’re leaving X (formerly Twitter). This blog explains a bit about why. We’re thinking through what’s next for us when it comes to connecting online, but Linked In is the best place to find us for now! We’d love to know how you’re getting on with the different alternatives!

Have you heard of Bluesky Social before? If you haven't, you are not alone. I share the same feeling until today. As someone who passionately believes in causes like climate change and the dangers it brings, the former platform that used to be Twitter is now filled with annoying deniers and conspiracy theorists. Frankly, the algorithm and how it is now pushing content to users' feeds is just downright toxic. There's a reason I have yet to post or share much IRL, day-to-day updates on X. But I am glad I've learned about BlueSky. It is really nice that it provides a safer environment and brings back what Twitter should've been all along. That is also why I will delete my X account in the coming days. All my tech- and design-related updates, including my passion for climate change, will now happen on the new platform, and I love the vibe it gives so far. This has a very early Twitter-day vibe to it. You guys can follow me here: @then3rdsquad.bsky.social #bluesky #climatechange #advocates #science #tech #dailyupdates

𝐁𝐲𝐞-𝐛𝐲𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝. Twitter was built on a promise to connect people globally. Its original mission was to give all fellow humans the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers. Over recent months, it’s become increasingly clear that the values and direction taken by this space no longer align with our mission at LGI. 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐗 / 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲, 𝐰𝐞’𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦. The rise of misinformation, toxic behaviour, and the platform's tolerance if not encouragement of harmful content are trends we cannot support. As a company that prioritises collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, we cannot continue to be part of this environment. While this decision wasn’t taken lightly, it feels like the right move for LGI and our vision of sustainable innovation. As a first step, we will discontinue posting here, with plans to gradually disconnect our projects from the platform in the coming months. We thank you for your continued support and encourage you to follow us on Linkedin 👉 https://lnkd.in/d6yjqHFP & Instagram 👉 https://lnkd.in/dCrD4qjq where we will keep sharing updates on our work and progress towards a more sustainable future. Let’s stay connected where meaningful conversations thrive. 🌍 #SustainableInnovation #MeaningfulChange

Let’s be real—every Web3 founder wants mass adoption and their token price to outperform $BTC. But let’s face it, 93% are falling flat. Why? Another useless Twitter thread. Another lazy Discord ping. Another messy Telegram group no one checks. And don’t even get me started on useless airdrops. It’s hollow. It’s desperate. And people can sense it from a mile away. So, what actually works if you want to build something that lasts? 1. Stop acting like a brand—be a creator. Skip the generic updates. Share real insights. Teach people something they can’t Google. If you’re not adding value, you’re just adding noise. 2. Deliver value, not bribes. If you’re paying people to stick around, it’s not a community—it’s a hostage situation. Every post, every reply—make it matter. Give people a reason to stay because they want to. 3. Consistency wins. Trust isn’t built with one viral moment. It’s built by showing up daily with something valuable to offer. If you’re not committed, don’t expect results. Here’s the harsh truth: Web3 isn’t waiting for you to figure it out. The real leaders aren’t shouting into the void—they’re building communities, fostering engagement, and earning loyalty by delivering value. If you’re done failing, it’s time to start leading.

Twitter is in fact an online community already, and it inspires much hate and conflict as a result, something that Elon lovingly calls free speech. Took another world-altering historical event to get me back onto Threads. 🧵 I joined in the early rush of people who signed up. I posted for a few weeks and then fizzled. I’ve been almost exclusively posting here on LinkedIn ever since. ✍🏼 But events like this weekend’s really underscore the need for a place to go when breaking news is happening. A platform with high-volume posts and real-time responses. It’s simply what’s needed in those situations when information is coming fast and changing rapidly. Plus, now that the election nearing and our fundamental rights are at stake—I feel like some of us probably need an outlet to share our opinions about things that are not quite LinkedIn-appropriate (even with the newer, cooler LinkedIn vibe that embraces the authentic personal side of people). I’m sorry that we continue to live through unprecedented times. I’m ready for some good old-fashioned precedented times. But, in the meantime while we live through these unprecedented times, Threads seems to be the best-suited as a Twitter replacement. 🧵 What do you think? Are you on Threads? Do you have an alternative you prefer?

While Twitter was once a hotspot for dynamic exchanges on climate and energy policy, and LinkedIn continues to be invaluable for general professional networking, I find myself yearning for the vibrant Twitter days. Now trying out Bluesky, hoping to get the feeling of old twitter days. While I'll remain active here and on Twitter, you can find me on Bluesky at @sandeeppai.bsky.social #ClimateAction #EnergyPolicy

As of November 14, 2024, Blue State has chosen to go dark on X, formerly known as Twitter. This decision reflects our values as a mission-driven organization working to create positive change, and is an act of solidarity with the growing number of progressive and mainstream voices who are leaving the platform. Under Elon Musk’s ownership, X has become one of the leading purveyors of right-wing disinformation. By design, the platform uses algorithms that throttle voices that don't align with Musk's, while amplifying hateful rhetoric and conspiracy theories, including racism, homophobia, misogyny, xenophobia, and fascism. We choose to no longer participate on X in the spirit of living our values. As an agency that believes in the power of data, it behooves us to mention that X has not been a major referral source for quite some time. But even if it was, we believe that no longer participating on X is the right choice. As with all of our work, we curate our strategies for each and every client. Leaving X or reducing participation may be the right choice for some clients and not for others, depending on their goals and target audiences. If you are a Blue State client and are unsure whether you should remain on X, please reach out to your Blue State team. They can help assess the best course of action for you. We have opted to not deactivate our account in order to retain control of our username, prevent impersonation, and because, as experts in this space, we will continue to monitor how people receive information, collaborate, and communicate online. We also believe in being open to the potential for growth and change. As an agency that believes in the power of technology for good, we wholeheartedly believe in supporting and building digital spaces that prioritize both open discourse and safety, and where people can come together to share ideas, have honest conversations, and build community. There will be harder times to come that will require braver steps than this. As far as tests go, this one is easy. We hope you’ll join us in exploring what a truly free and supportive digital society can be.

Is it time to stop using X / Twitter? - A Memcom Pulse Survey results... In light of the troubling events stemming from Twitter (now X), particularly with the platform’s controversial acceptance of far-right voices and misinformation, the conversation around whether organisations should continue using the platform has intensified. Many within the #membership #community have voiced their concerns, and we at #Memcom wanted to gather real-time insights from our community. To facilitate this, we launched a pulse survey, collecting responses from 112 organisations regarding their current stance on X. The results are in... https://lnkd.in/epYh8mTG
