At Niagara Region, we manage a $5 billion asset portfolio of water and wastewater assets ranging from several water and wastewater treatment plants, to over one hundred pumping stations and reservoirs, to networks of pipelines and sewers. Our assets provide water and wastewater services to half a million people throughout several communities. This presentation will focus on the process to develop our 2024 Financial Plan which provides us with an investment forecast for the next 10 years. Using an intensive risk- based approach to project prioritization, we shortlisted our investments through a project-by-project detailed analysis which considered pre-investment risk vs the post investment benefit and overall cost of the investment. Projects were then prioritized using our custom-built cost benefit analytical framework that facilitates the trade-off between asset system service performance, cost and risks. Through this process we evaluated $2 billion of renewal and growth investment needs, and then shortlisted priorities, due to affordability constraints, into a total 10 year budget of $1.2 billion.

Measuring something is a great start but true value of data comes from understanding what it means and providing actionable outcomes. Resources for use and for operations are finite, so knowing where, when and how to use those precious resources is critical. #actionableoutcomes #measuretoact #assetmanagement #assetrisk
Collecting the Right Data for Efficient Asset Management: Today, technology and information are key to managing assets. However, collecting the correct data for the right purpose can be difficult. Insufficient or incorrect data can lead to misleading or useless results. Compliance requirements often focus on pass/fail outcomes, which are essential for public health and environmental safety, but they may overlook the need for proactive management. A comprehensive approach to water asset management requires understanding current conditions and future risks. This includes factors like internal and environmental conditions, potential issues, and the varying resources available to different utilities. By using a solutions-based approach that matches client needs with the best technologies, techniques, and expertise, we can achieve actionable outcomes, prevent predictable failures, and reduce costs. To ensure efficient water asset management, start with the desired outcomes and work backward to find the ideal combination of tools and expertise. This strategy helps utilities make informed decisions, optimise resources, and ensure long-term success in delivering safe and reliable water services. #assetmanagement #assetrisk #actionableoutcomes #qualityoutcomes #watersustainability

In today's complex industrial landscape, Asset Integrity Management (AIM) is more crucial than ever. Spanning maintenance, inventory management, operations, and more, AIM ensures that your assets remain efficient, safe, and valuable throughout their lifecycle. Why AIM Matters: 1. Health and Safety: AIM helps minimise risks and enhance safety in high-risk industries like oil and gas, reducing accidents and protecting workers. 2. Operational Efficiency: It optimises asset performance, extends lifecycle, and reduces downtime, leading to better ROI and profitability. 3. Regulatory Compliance: With evolving regulations, AIM ensures compliance, helping avoid penalties and environmental impact. Resume, Cover Letter & LinkedIn Specialist ◆ Top 100 Women in the Energy Transition ◆ Top 15 LinkedIn Experts in Houston ➤ I help senior and executive-level Oil, Gas & Energy professionals optimize profiles and level up!
Asset management is a core part of what we do in Oil & Gas. In general, asset management involves managing physical assets (like wells, pipelines, and facilities) to maximize their value and efficiency while minimizing operational costs and risks. Asset management roles require a mix of technical knowledge, strategic planning, and operational management to ensure that assets deliver the best possible value over their lifecycle. But what types of skills are required for asset management jobs? Here are 3 you'll want to consider listing on your resume: ► Financial Acumen: Understanding the financial aspects of asset management is crucial. This includes budgeting, financial modeling, cost management, and economic evaluation. You will need to analyze financial data to make informed decisions about investments, operations, and maintenance to maximize returns and reduce costs. ► Technical Expertise: A deep understanding of the oil & gas operations, including exploration, production, and the technical aspects of the facilities and equipment used, is essential. This expertise helps in making decisions that enhance asset performance, ensure safety, and comply with regulatory standards. ► Strategic Planning and Analysis: Asset managers in the oil & gas industry need to be able to develop and implement strategies for long-term asset optimization. This includes planning for asset development, conducting risk assessments, and making contingency plans. Analytical skills are vital for evaluating potential opportunities and threats, and for navigating the often complex and dynamic nature of the oil & gas market. Which skills would you add? #oilgas #oilandgas #oilandgasindustry #engineering #petroleum #energy

International Energy Assets Development and Asset Management - Projects, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering
LEAN Asset Integrity Management Safe and Reliable Operations has been a red thread throughout my career and my passion for Safety and Production Reliability is still top priority in my life. I am honoured to lead the workshop about Asset Integrity Management enhanced with the principles of Lean Management at the ASSET INTEGRITY & RELIABILITY SHOW 2024 in Muscat (my second home). The conference is under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of Oman. Asset integrity management aims at safe and reliable operations: this is preparation of operations during the project stage, and during the production phase of the assets. Principles are also applied during the decommissioning of assets. Lean Management is a concept of streamlining actives, effective execution, continuous improvement, and employee involvement and development. Combining the two has delivered unprecedented improvements in safety, equipment uptime, and overall production reliability. Get it right first time – every time! The concepts will be explained in simple terms for projects, operations, and mature operations with focus on energy and process industries. The workshop on March 3rd customises these concepts for the asset development and asset operations of the participants. I look forward meeting you in Muscat next week.
