Help us build South Australia's Pain Research and Innovation Hub! From small scale quality improvement projects to large scale multi-site trials, South Australia is a hub of pain-related research and innovation. We have a lot of great people doing incredible things but it’s not always easy to know who to connect with when we have an issue we want to solve. That's why, this #NationalPainWeek, we’re launching an online platform for contributors to submit and showcase the work being done - South Australia's Pain Research and Innovation Hub! We’ve made a start but there’s much more to be done. The Hub will be a local repository of current and completed projects that will enable you to find topics that match your interests, connect with other researchers and innovators, and learn from work that has already been undertaken. We want to help break down silos, reduce duplication of effort and fast-track innovation so that together, we can make a real difference in the lives of people living with pain. We’re excited to announce the next Local Health Networks (LHNs) to participate in the statewide implementation of HIRAID®! HIRAID® is the only validated, evidence-based framework that empowers emergency nurses to assess and manage ED patients after triage. Developed by expert emergency nurses in New South Wales, HIRAID® provides a structured approach to the complexities of emergency nursing practice, reducing variation in assessment and enhancing patient safety and quality of care. Following CALHN’s successful implementation of HIRAID® earlier this year, planning is now well underway for implementation at BHFLHN, NALHN, SALHN and WCHN later this year, and EFN and LCLHN to follow in 2025. We are looking forward to welcoming back Professor Kate Curtis and Professor Julie Considine AO in September for the next Train the Trainer workshops. Dr. Peter Allcroft is the Clinical Lead for the Statewide Palliative care Network CEIH and he was recently awarded for his contribution caring for people living with Motor Neuron Disease (MND). For over 2 decades, Dr. Peter Allcroft has been passionate about improving care for patients with MND. This month, he received a medal awarded by the MND Association Australia at Parliament House, Canberra, in recognition of his clinical work and clinical research. The MND Board South Australia, of which Peter is the Deputy Chair, holds an annual "Walk to defeat MND" as their major fundraiser event. This year, the event included a dunking event, for which Dr. Allcroft happily volunteered. His grandson had the honour of pressing the dunk button!
