Here are quick highlights on why this seminar is valuable: 1- Set the team: Training of AI is not a straightforward one, you need to get right partners with very very but “very” specific skill set - thus this seminar will help you how to build your strategy and your team. 2- Slow but steady: AI training and Machine Learning is an exponential process, meaning the start is slow and painful (let’s be truthful) but the initial results are already satisfying, which holds great potential for very rapid improvement 3- Be critical but diverse: You can’t only rely on the AI and ML , as what I observe so far is the data is still very raw. While you seek for a certain degree of an error / threshold of a particular application, while you might be obtaining another great outcome that you completely overlooked Takeaway: In this seminar, listen closely to 3*the nuances of being critical of your data from all perspectives, 2*Understand how embracing the initial slow phases can lead to substantial rewards, and 1*how building a diverse team can significantly elevate your results. ;)

🌟 Reflecting on an Exciting Hackathon Experience! 🌟 Earlier this year, in March 2024, I had the privilege of participating in the CIBIP Healthcare Hackathon, hosted by Yenepoya Technology Incubator and Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP). This was an incredible opportunity to collaborate on solving a real-world challenge blending engineering and healthcare innovation. Together with my teammate, we addressed a problem provided by Dr. Malathi M., at Yenepoya Medical College: “Developing a mechanical device to automate the process of mounting slides on a microscope stage.” We developed and presented a comprehensive conceptual solution to streamline microscope slide handling. #Innovation #Healthcare #BiomedicalEngineering #HackathonExperience #MicroscopyAutomation

#SynbiTECH2024 concludes with a fireside chat between Paul Freemont and Richard Kitney, hosted by Fiona Mischel of SynBioBeta. "Synbio Unplugged: Twenty years of evolution" considers two decades of development of the field. The discussion also looks forward to the next decade of advances. The establishment of data-driven tools and experimental pathways to develop the genetic and cellular tools will enable the commercial application at scale. Paul points to the need for many early stage companies to engage with scale-up, and particularly to couple their upstream process to cost-effective and efficient downstream processes. This is often a neglected area. Dick points out the need to provide continuity of funding commensurate with effort and timelines needed to develop a national infrastructure to deliver the potential. The panel agrees that excellent science is not being translated in the UK. Paul says that companies are being made and grown, but then they are exported. Dick and Paul agree that this could be the UK's strength. The question is why large industry isn't stepping up to drive technology at the largest scale. Paul applauds the ambition, but rightly poses the question of how we can make that happen. Dick and Paul point to the amount of young people in the room, and the enthusiasm and drive they bring to the Engineering Biology sector. SynbiTECH 2024 draws to a close, looking forward to SynbiTECH 2025. What a great and inspiring event. Well done to SynbiCITE and all of the organisers and staff involved in making it a huge success.
