The ISF research team have made key breakthroughs in understanding the biophysics of the living system. In the lab, biophysicist William Brown is seen here working on the latest biophysics research. The ISF team are elucidating energetic and informational properties of subcellular organelles called mitochondria, which perform a threefold transduction of energy utilizing a high electrical gradient proton plasma and nano-rotors that spin up to 60k rpm. Such conditions can be uniquely described within the Planck plasma flow model revealing how subatomic engineering by the biological system couple to information-energy dynamics of the fundamental field. #biology

Excited to share our latest publication, where we tackled a crucial question: how do subtle structural modifications influence phase separation in lipid membranes? This is vital for understanding the structure and dynamics of biological membranes. Hyperspectral tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS) imaging revealed partial segregation of deuterated and non-deuterated lipid domains, indicating that molecular conformation and polarity are key factors that drive phase-separation. This study enhances our understanding of membrane biophysics and underscores the power of TERS as an effective nanoanalytical tool to probe biomembranes.
